Hey guys, I wanted to share a project I just completed.... I've designed and 3d printed an insert for the radio bezel opening that accepts an AIM MXm logger. I found some decent 3d scans of the center console online, and used those to design around. It's essentially a blank chunk that fills the radio opening, then has a shaped opening for the AIM MXm logger. Here are some pictures:
I'll probably end up repainting everything, mostly because the OEM black texture is loosing its color.
In case anyone is wondering, I chose the AIM MXm logger because it's pretty powerful considering its size. It's receives CAN input from a vehicle's CAN high/low, has 4 analog inputs, two AIM CAN network expansions (so you can add more AIM devices to it), and two 15 AMP outputs. Along with that, the AIM devices do all the GPS based track mapping and predictive lap timing. My car will end up being dual duty track/street, so I think this is a really clean solution to get a lot of data acquisition in a small package.
I'm happy to share the 3d printing files with anyone who is interested in having them. I can also share the dash insert without the AIM cutout.
