STi/EVO Brembos on a Z car? Possible?
 

Ok, I have searched for the last 20 minutes, cant find anything.

I was told yesterday that the Brembo brake calipers, front and rear, are the same between teh Mitscu EVO, Subie STi, and the 350z.

Therefore, the STi or EVO brake calipers bolt right up to the Z
New rotors, and go.

Can anyone confrim this, or lead me in the right directions?
I can get a set of Red EVO brembo calipers, front and rear, for about $500, and would be a nice upgrade for my touring edition.

I think they are different

the caliper body is the same, but piston size differ (or something like that)

Dude you're not the first, I would really like to know if the calipers fit b/c, then Id just pick up a set of EVO/STI calipers and fit them. Its too good to be true.

But smaller piston Brembos > than OEM brakes

sti is in teh 3200+ pound range, and power wise the same as a 350z, so stopping power should be fine.

Im more worried about the caliper bolting up fine to the hub and rotor.

Front:
350Z = RSX Type R (Japan Spec)
Evo = STi

Rear:
Evo = STi = 350z

I thought of this a while back cause I have the gold brembos and would like the red ones on the EVO.

Just paint them red for $30.00 and you are set.

the calipers are different. I have a 240sx and put on the STi/Evo set up not too long ago. The calipers used on the jdm ITR (dc5) and the 350z are the same. 4 piston brembo caliper....samed one used on the ferrari f40. The ones from the evo/sti are from the ferrari f50 (little bit bigger caliper/pistons). The evo/sti rears will bolt up to the 350z, however the fronts will not. Hope that clears up everything.

Ok .. for everyone else here are the differences.
Evo Front D1001 pad piston size 40/46 rear D961 pad piston size 40mm

Sti Front D1001 pad piston size 40/46 rear D961 pad piston size 36mm

G35/350z Brembo D960 piston size 44/38 rear D961 piston size 40mm

This isn't even counting rotor size differences. For Pete's sake even if you did manage to get and evo/sti caliper to fit on the Z, the balance would be wrong and performance would worse than you are stock.

But hey.. it looks cool right?

What about the Brembos that come on the Sentra?

Edit: nevermind...discs for the Z are .6" larger in diameter for the front

You can't just look at the rotor size to tell if two calipers are the same. It all depends on where the calipers are mounted. Two cars can both be using 12" rotors, but the calipers could be seated differently compared to the rotational center.

I really don't think the rear brembos on the 350z/Evo/Sti are the same. All three front calipers are different. If you just glance at them, you'll think they are identical, but if you look really carefully, you'll find many differences.

Plus, if you want red brembos, you can always paint or powdercoat the 350z/G35 brembos.

the evo and STi front brembo's are THE SAME. maybe different mounting locations, but the caliper itself is the same. The rotors are a little different in size/offset, but nonetheless the calipers are the same. As I said before these are 'f50 spec' brembo calipers. The rears off of the g35/Z/evo/STi are all the same caliper as well. The front calipers off of the Z/G35/JDM ITR/ Spec V are 'f40 spec' brembo's.

So if the rear are the same as people are stating could this mean we could possibly get rear brembo off an STI or EVO and use them. Or will the mounting and rotor size be an issue? This is not to clear because I am getting mixed results.
