stage 2 brake upgrade

I just got my stage 2 brake upgrade (stop tech cross drilled rotors, hawk pads, stainless steel lines, and motul) but ever since i got that done my car takes longer to stop?

now my old pads and rotors were pretty much gone but since i go this, seems like it just takes longer to stop

is it normal?

Even after warming up the brakes. I have the stage 2 as well, and mine seem to be a little better than stock.

I do realize that if I hammer the brakes right of the bat, they are a little slow. But then again, it has been months since I have driven the car as well.

Did you follow the bedding procedure?

Much of the change may have to do with the change in pads.

Some pads are designed for less initial bite, but also less fade over constant use. It's a tradeoff.

If it has Hawk pads, its not one of our true Stage 2 kits.

Doing a bed in procedure is critical though to get the best performance:

if you could lock up your tires with your old setup, your new setup won't make you stop shorter. stickier tires will.

it's probably a difference in brake pad compound.

definitely bed them in!

What pads come with the true stage 2 kit?

StopTechErik 01-24-2008 06:36 PM

Axxis Ultimates are the pads provided with our stage 2 kits.

hawk pads have less bite then stock pads, that is what you are feeling. you'll get less dust though! :icon14:

MrWatchDawg 01-24-2008 06:44 PM

SOB lol i guess that is what i am feeling, kinda sucks because i was used to the car stopping with just the tap of the break now i have to actually push down!
