don't want to lower my z too much
 

hey guys i've searched alot and can't find a thread that answers my question. i was wondering if there is a chart of all the springs for the z with the drop rates? if so if someone can post it up for me. if not my questions is what springs drops the car less then an inch? are there any or is the prokit as close as it gets? reason being is im putting the nismo v2 body kit on and i have a steep driveway but still want the fender gap closed up alittle...if it wernt for my driveway the streets around me are find i could go as low as sportlines with the kit but i need something around an inch or less. also so help out im putting 19 inch te-37 on so i dont know if that'll help raise my car any even though i'll have a 35 series tire. im just really confused :dunno:

The Pro-Kit and the Tein S-Techs are probably the most popular choices for an inch or less, look at different spring manufacturer websites for specs; there are plenty of options. As far as your tire choices, use the website below and compare the diameters on what you are running now to the sizes you want to run. The 245/35 front and 275/35 rear is your safest bet if you aren't knowledgable about this stuff and do not want to experiment, depending on what rim widths you want that is.

you would still have a huge gap with less than inch which would actually look close to stock so would it really be worth it. Slam that ***** you'd be surprised with a little skill what you can get away with

Yes you are confused but we will straighten that right up now:

You lower the body of the car with shorter springs.

Regardless of what tires you choose maintain OEM tire height. Is is NOT recommended that you alter ground clearance with short or tall tires.

thanks for the help guys! lol im not THAT confused i know how lowering springs work and about the tire hight stuff but i figured since im running a 19x9.5 front and 19x10.5 rear with a 35 tire it would actually raise the car alittle compared to the factory 18s with the 40 tires. i know an inch is not much but its a dd and my driveway sucksssss! if i slam it even with stock body i'll rip everything off the car including my exhaust lol. im thinking pro kit as of now unless there's something less aggresive then that...

ps believe me guys i know what your saying theres nothing like a slammed car on te37s! but if i did that my car wont last but a day...

Don't know. I went with the NISMO S-Tune suspension. Did not lower car at all.

..about 7/8" front and 3/4" rear initially. Then it settled about 1/8 " more.

Also they closely match the stock '08/'08 stock spring rates.

I just had my Nismo S tune suspension installed - it lowered my car about half and inch.

Hotchkis or Tein S-tech.

Pro-kits drop the car pretty low in comparison to the other two. The prokits are more comparable to the GF210's.

I don't want to steal this thread or anything but was hoping someone could explain something to me quickly. I read somewhere else that just getting springs isn't the greatest and coilovers are the best route or getting springs AND shocks are another route cause just getting springs will usually require replacing the shocks after about a year or so. How true is all of that? If springs can be had for only $200 or so it seems like a great deal for the difference it can make.

springs are fine... dont hit a lot of potholes and you wont damage the shocks... ive had mine for over a year and no problems at all. maybe in a couple years ill switch to coilovers but def an affordable route for now.

I think it just depends how low you go on springs since the stock shocks can only take so much which is why most people would just go with coilovers since you will be replacing the shocks down the road anyways...I just ordered my coilovers can't wait!!!!:icon38:

I would go with either the tein s-techs or the hotchkiss springs, just my 2 cents

I killed my shocks in a little over six months after getting my RS*R's. I track my car and I'm sure that contributed to my stock shocks' short life span, but they were fine for the couple years of autoxcrossing I did before the springs.

YOu have an 06, look into Cobb springs. They are well matched for your shocks and give you a nice non slammed drop.
