Front Strut Tower Bolt Issue

Begging for mercy, I know this was stupid of me...:bang:

I was finishing up the install of my coilovers and bolting up the front strut tower. Since it was late at night I was slightly rushing/excited to take the car for a spin and didn't shorten the strut tower to get the bolt holes to line up. Long story short I ended up messing up the threads on one of the bolts and POSSIBLY damaged the threads on the body of the car.

Can I use a tap to fix the threads on the body? Anyone know what size tap I would need? Is there a better way to fix this? Thanks for your input!

A tap and die set is suppose to come with a thread gauge to tell u the thread type and u should able to figure out the thread width but u will need to change nuts. It'll cut the threads skinnier.

I'll check my tap and die set again for a gauge. I assume I can also get this information from the bolts (already ordered new ones)? The two nuts that go on the studs are fine, it is just the bolt that goes into the body of the car.

Why would you ever need a stupid thread gauge, you guys are way over thinking this.

1)remove bolt from cross threaded hole
2)get a tap, hold it up to said bolt. Line up threads, match the bolt diameter
3)if you are still confused, take the bolt to a hardware store and find a nut that fits
4)retap hole
5)have a beer
