Do Z's really not have any rebates or incentives?

They keep telling me there is no way they can go below or even to invoice and also there is no incentives or rebates or sales EVER for the Z's. Is this true or are they blowing smoke up my a$$

grifferjr Apr 28, 2006 05:07 AM

Thats partially true. I am pretty sure that the Z is not included in any Nissan "sales event". Easy reasoning here...the Z sells itself, doesn't need any incentive.

On the flipside though, the Z is not that unique/special of a car anymore. Maybe the first year or two but now?? No way. If the dealer is unwilling to deal with you go someplace else and find someone who will. I garauntee(sp) that you can get a new Z for under invoice somewhere. Heck the dealer right up the road from me has at least 10 on their lot at all times.

Go somewhere else!!

tell them to blow it out their a$$...many people are getting their cars below invoice...and you should have no problem doing that these days especially with the gas prices we have...a 20 gallon tank that requires premium just isn't selling that well...I know a dealer in so cal that is giving $2500 off MSRP as a rebate...so they are just trying to fool you...if you want to shove it in their face that there are rebates, go to www. connellnissan.com and go under their new car inventory...click on any of the cars and you'll see a list of their rebates for all nissans! Good Luck!

That to me sounds like the dealer you're dealing with doesn't want to deal. Several people have posted here they bought their car's at invoice, below invoice, or slightly above invoice. I bought my '05 ZR in April '05 at slightly over invoice.
Re. rebates, I've not heard of Nissan having rebates on the current model year car BUT when the '06s came out they had a rebate of, I think, $1,000 on the '05.
You might want to look at www.edmunds.com for invoice, rebate, etc. info.
It also sounds like you may want to look for another dealer who wants your business more.

this dealership has like 100 z's on their lot, and they are messing around with me...they have 5 of the exact model color and everything I want! the other 3 close dealerships only have usually like 2 or 3 on the lot!

Armitage Apr 28, 2006 05:36 AM

I bought mine under invoice, but its because it had dealer-repaired lot damage.

IMO, if your getting $200-500 above invoice, your doing pretty good.

nothingremains Apr 28, 2006 06:18 AM

wow i can get good prices at the connell dealership...that is no where close to what they are offering me down here! like 70 bucks a month cheaper!

nothingremains Apr 28, 2006 06:48 AM

why are the prices so much cheaper in Cali then here in Florida?

Riggz Apr 28, 2006 07:07 AM

So the Z is not in limited production, is that why they are willing to let it go for very close to invoice? And is this ONLY if the dealer has a car on the lot? What if it needs to be ordered?

Im planning to order an 06 PPW performance model! Going to the dealer this weekend!! I cant wait!

nothingremains Apr 28, 2006 07:14 AM

I am not sure, i just sent 3 links to the local dealership from that connell nissan and told them to match those prices and I will pick one up this weekend :)

I got them to knock off about $8000.00 because I was trading in a Titan and had some neg. equity...I will say though I have bought 6 cars from this dealership so they were pretty much willing to do whatever I wanted....work them over, remember, they want to sell you the car just as much as you want the car....

shinkuu Apr 28, 2006 08:27 AM

and wait for the end of the month to buy your car. yes they have quotas to meet but not only that, they have incentives to gain. There is a number they have to get over in order to make it to the next commission bracket or bonus. I was told this from a former salesman.

some areas, like san diego is ran by a monopoly (mossy nissan). they only have one other competitor (pacific nissan) and will not budge on their prices. i had to drive to LA to get a good deal.

grifferjr Apr 28, 2006 08:30 AM

Bottom line is that there is no such thing as a dealership that cant knock anything off any car no matter what the car is. we all know how much mark-up there is in the car world. if the demand is high for the car then the leverage is in the dealers court. if the demand is not that high, then the buyer has the edge. in my opinion, for the last 2 years the edge for the Z has reversed in favor of the buyer.

the one thing you have to not be is that guy who has to have the car tommorrow. your best bet is to get two or three dealerships bidding against each other.

you have to remember its their privelage to have you as a potential customer, not your privelage to be their customer!!!!

its all in how you approach it. the right guy/gal with the right attitude can get money knocked off of anything, from a Porsche to a Hyundai!!

shinkuu Apr 28, 2006 10:04 AM

its also approaching summer time. more people buy sports cars in the summer. some dealerships do sell cars only at MSRP. ever heard of Scion or Saturn? they have a pure pricing plan.

Find a Dealer that will work with you and have them "Dealer Locate" that Z you want from the other dealer.

nothingremains I don't know where you live in Florida. But I've found some great deals in the Tampa area. I just special orderd my first Z:) yesterday from Ferman Nissan New Port Richey. When I told the saleswomen what I wanted to pay, she was like "so what you're asking me is you want to pay invoice for the car." I said "yes that's right." Soon she came back and said "guess what you have yourself a Z."

She was the greatest salesperson I've ever dealt with. Her name is Marie Mark and she's a no nonsence gal that won't feed you a bunch of BS. She's the inernet sales person for the dealer. Just send her an email, tell her what model with the option you want and she find that car if it's in florida and give you an "internet only price." I was able to get them down about $700 more which was their invoice price. Let her know Brian set you... fermanautosales6@leadcrm.com

I got my brand new 06 Z for almost 1000 under invoice, it was a miracle and the dealer didn't want to do business with me (thought he was going to screw me over on financing when he agreed to the price..which he only agred to in the first place because he promised to find me a new 05 in black and realized he probably couldn't. He didn't realize I already secured an auto loan online for almost half the interest rate nissan was offering me).

I can't find any info on rebates available for 2005 Zs -- can you show me where you're seeing that information?
