Default Wanna buy 04.5 350z, but how do i tell if it's 04.5

So i wanna buy this car http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/car/602687693.html . I emailed the person asking when was the car made, he told me that the door sticker says June '04. So can you judge by that? or it might be not true? How else i can figure out if it's 04.5 or 04?

Thanks

OK, what's the difference between 04 and 04.5? If it is just the time of it was made, why don't you use carfax or autocheck. You will be able to see exactly when a car was registered (for example, sometime in 2003 or 2004).

You need the VIN. That's really the only way to tell, although if it does have knee pads then it is most likely an 04.5, but some 04's have the knee pads as well.

By the way, you will be getting flamed pretty soon for not searching.

2004 or 2004.5. Is it really a deal breaker?

Hey guys, so the guy gave me his VIN which is JN1AZ34E04M155568 .. i have heard that it has to be over 60000 last numbers, but also i have heard if you have 04 with an "M" after it's definitely '04.5.

tell me if you think it's '04.5 thanks

btw: it has knee pads also

Yep, that's an 04.5 because it has an M.

2004.5 I believe so. The “M” designates the Tochigi plant.

I work at a Nissan Dealership in the Parts Department. Just put the VIN in our parts program. Birth Date is 06/04. Base Model, 6spd MT, Silver with Black Interior.

Yes that is an 04.5.
Knee pads are to the left and right of the dash. Very convenient.

So that explains what's the little pegs sticking off that part of my car are. I thought it was some addon that the previous owner had on it.
It appears that someone pried my knee pads off for some dumb *** reason. Anyone know where I can get these kneepad or the part numbers?

Thanks for the quick reply, couldn't have asked for a better description.

You can tell in the VIN numbers:

2004 Nissan 350Z Coupe/Roadster (Coupe VINs up to D*4T160000,E*4T060000) (Roadster VINs from D*4T102001 to D*4T110000 & from A*4T002001 to A*4T010000)

2004.5 Nissan 350Z Coupe/Roadster (Coupe VINs from D*4T160001, E*4T060001) ( Roadster VINs from D*4T110001, A*4T010001)

If the letter before the 6 digit serial number is "M" instead of "T", it's a 2004.5 because it was produced at the Oppama plant.
