This stuff is great. I washed, waxed, and then used this stuff on my Z last night, and today in the sunlight the car is glistening! Easy on, easy off, immaculate shine. From what I heard it only gets better as you use it more. From now on I am keeping a bottle of this stuff with me in the Z for those quick emergency wipe downs.

 

I recently bought some but haven't used it yet...I need to try it out. You just let everything dry and then applied it right after?

But the new ultimate quick dealer in the black bottle is better from the previous. I still prefer mother's for my quick detail.

 

I got the stuff in the black holigrammy bottle I read somewhere that it builds up over time. Let me find that article quick. if not, I still wax regularly, so it serves its own purpose either way.

As for using it, according to Meguiars, the only product of theirs that you let dry is the waxes, so everything else is spray on, wipe off. I did my car this morning. I used 2 microfiber clothes, one for spreading the UQD and one for the final buff. The DB paint just glows!

 

I would have to agree. I use maguires wax and quick detail spray in between wax jobs and it works perfects. Smooths the finish out again like you just waxxed your car.

 

The smell isn't bad either.

I saw UQD at Wal-Mart last week and after reading all the hype about it on Autopia, had to buy. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed. It is...okay. The look it gives (I tried over both polymer and carnauba) is decent at best, even after the 12-hour curing period they list on the bottle. It certainly isn't a bad product, but for $10/22ml, I was expecting a top notch OTD QD. The slickness isn't on par with other popular QDs; I was annoyed at how weird it was to apply! It didn't want to spread too easily with an MF towel; something I've never noticed on a QD before.

I was looking for an OTC replacement for my home-mixed 40/40/20 brew of ClearKote's Quick Shine, FinishKare #425, and Aqua Wax but this wasn't it.

If you have a Pep Boys nearby, see if they have Long Haul Truck Gloss on clearance (it has recently been discontinued). I got some locally this week and found it to be head and shoulders above UQD; very high optical clarity--almost comprable to a high-end spray wax (I sprayed two panels side-by-side to compare) and amazing slickness. And all for $2/28ml!

 

A quick detailer is a quick detailer.I don't want anything it to make my polish/wax job any better than it already is. Last thing i want is keep caking stuff on my paint. Maybe some of you guys are tryign to get a quick wax out of it or something.

 

Actually, making the polish/wax job better is the very reason why QDs exist. They don't have heavy wax agents; just a small amount of "boosters" to restore the just-waxed look while adding slickness (for dust/water repellancy). They aren't meant to replace waxing in the least.

 

The entire point of the UQD is to wipe the car down, leave it feeling smooth, and to protect the paint from water. It seems like its primary act is as a rain repellent and it does that superbly well.

It rained hard on Monday in NY, and the water just flung right off the car. It beaded and pearled up instantly. I parked the car in the garage, came back an hour later and no water spots were left from the beads and pearls that were left. I wiped down whatever was left, and resprayed the car. Looked like I had it washed.

 

I dunno, but I use quick detailers not for the wax boosting ability, but rather as a light dust/cleaner between washes, I have boosters/toppers already for that purpose. Not all quick detailers are made for enhancing the look, alot are made specifically for their cleaning ability. ONR comes to mind as a quick detailer when mixed properly that has no finish boosting effects I can see.

 

exactly. that's waht i'm trying to say. There is no need for "boosting" the color inbetween wax when you did a good polish/wax before hand. But i have to agree, it really beads off water really well.

 

i jus used the same product today! i had both the wax and detailing bottle but i wasnt sure if i was to use both...so i jus washed the car then used the quick wax on it and it shines reall niceee...i guess its ok for me to use the detailing bottle on it tomorrow!

 

Every QD out there is designed and marketed to restore the just-waxed look to a painted surface (it is called a quick detailer for a reason, after all) and boost its slickness. If it isn't, it isn't a QD.

Have you tried ONR (mixed at QD strength) on a lightly dusty (or freshly washed) panel and have it not improve the look at all compared to the panel next to it? Of course it does, no matter how subtle; that is its purpose. To what degree it does so is what makes it a good or bad QD. Meg's UQD simply does NOT do that same job very well compared to other high-quality QDs I have used. It's as simple as that. My frame of reference is entirely different than OP's; if not, I would've loved UQD as well.

 

So I used my Speed Detailer for the first time last night...the paint looks amazing!!! Never seen it shine quite like that before! Its really slick and smooth now too, and like someone said above it smells good too LOL

I'm hooked. Will be using this after every wash.

 

I guess you aren't getting my point. Some QD's are marketed towards for their cleaning abilities and some for their added appearance enhancement. If I a completely clean hood, and I use ONR on half of it, and leave the other half untouched, they feel the same afterwards. If I do the same thing with my other QD that I use for some added pop, Meg's last touch, there is a difference in slickness. The ONR IMO works better at cleaning however, which is why its my go to for most QD needs. The last touch is used occasionally for a quick wipedown when I want some added bling, but if there is any real contaminants on the paint, I'll grab the ONR

 

Just bought a bottle of it today and I can't tell much of difference that the regular Megs QD. It does seem to smell a little stonger though.

 

Oh, forgot to say I used Meguiar's NXT Gen Speed Detailer....don't know if there's a real difference between it an Quick Detailer.

Anyways its great stuff.

 

My goal with using a QD is to give water repellence and keep the car looking clean between washes, if possible. I don't have a garage, so after a day or two, my car is coated with light dust. Better to use UQD and remove it than to was every other day

BTW, it works better on a recently waxed surface. Meguiar's says if the QD is tough to apply and remove, you need to wax.
