G'Damn Swirls!!!
 

It seems no matter what I do I can't help adding swirls into my car!!! I make sure every spot has been throughouly washed and dry it with clean microfiber, and they still keep popping up. They are not to bad but they are driving be bannanas! I just got a good look at it in the sun and I was just beside myself.

Is there any way to stop this??? or fill them in without doing a complete detail again and getting a buffer? Maybe some kind of quick detailer with a swirl filler or something?

i think anything that touches your car could add swirls?
even the softest thing might catch some dust/dirt under it.
The only way to not get em is if you air dry I would think lol..

Yeah let it air dry so you not only have swirls from the wash, but now you have water marks lol.

Even washing and drying a car with a healthy coat of wax will put swirl marks in the top wax coat.

If you have a nice waxed car the only thing I have found that takes the swirl marks out of my wax is THIS.

Other spray detial works okay, such as Mothers ect... I have used them all, but Adams is the easiest to use and takes out ALL swirl marks in the wax. Won't take out scratches obviously. The great thing is you can use it in the sun, on glass ect... Other detail sprays you can't. Mothers for example if the car is hot or in the sun it will smear all around and not buff off at all.

I use Adams after almost every wash. It will keep the wax longer and take out the swirls, and it smells like cotton candy lol.

I'm assuming you mean conceal the swirls? If there is a quick detailer that removes swirls I want in! :D

Black paint. No swirls. Learn to use a PC or Flex or pay someone who can.....

You need to get two grit guards and two wash buckets and use the two bucket washing system. Also get a good wash mit like sheep skin or chennel. if the car is really dirty get a foam gun and do a pre soak to loosen the dirt so you dont rub it in during the wash.

Light swirls will always pop up inbetween your all out details. Your best bet is to get a solid schedule going inbetween your heavier polishing. Wax monthly and use a finishing polish beforehand. Every two or three months you can use a medium cutting polish as necessary. Examine your washing methods and tools. A quality wash mit or boars brush will do far less damage than using a microfiber towel.

I didn't really notice them before my most receint detail. I used Finishing Touch Glaze for the first time and really had to put some elbow grease in to buff off. I think I may have added swirls there!

But my car was cleaned and clayed and used clean MF towels!

I really just dont want to make an investment in a Buffer, Maybe Ill just try going with an over the counter polish that will fill them in. Out of sight out of mind.

My car is swirl city bought used so i'm just waiting till i save enuff for a new super black paint job..

I also hate swirls..

Removing swirls by hands is going to equal more frustration than results. Invest in a Porter Cable or Flex and be happy with your results for years to come versus always disappointed by hand. I might have a used PC available if you are interested as well.

Use it more often, use a better/more aggressive polisher/pad.

I used the most aggressive to least poorboys polish.. still have swirls... :cry2: most aggressive pad to least also.. :(

If you have to put elbow grease into removing product you let it haze too long. Use some quick detailer to help buff it out instead of using more force. I would suggest using a more aggressive polish before stepping up to the next pad. Also, let the polish work until it starts to dust or break down. Get a practice panel and use it to practice until you find your technique, i.e. the right amount of polish, pressure, and duration.

what polishes and pads are you using? The size of the pads matter as well.

If you move down to a 4" pad on the PC, it will generate more heat and will actually take out swirls better.

Bah swirls are in the clearcoat not the wax. Adams qd is good, but its a cg relabel of speed wipe. Most if not all of adams products are cg, but diluted. Like adams shampoo is cg maxi suds II diluted.

Zaino... I hated my redline, but I did four coats of Zaino and most of them are gone.

that just covers them, z-5 has minor filling ability, but its best to remove them by polishing.

The only way to remove swirl marks is with a buffer. I have a Griot's Garage R/A buffer and it is fantastic. I use their Machine Polish 3 and my paint is totally free of swirls. Considering the ease of removing swirls and waxing, a buffer is really a good investment.
