just ordered a crank pully do i need it's belt?

guys i just ordered a UR crank pully do i have to oreder a special belt or can i use the one i have in my car?

It's a smaller diameter than stock.. You'll need a smaller belt.. Doesn't it come with the pulley?

Robert_K Mar 2, 2006 06:18 AM

You need to order the Gates belts. Don go with any other/cheaper belts!

I think UR only makes a under-drive pulley for the 350Z (I just ordered mine too!)...which means you'll need a new belt

i looked into some websites and they have only the coplete set and i just ordered the crank pully so do i have to go for the belt set?

another thing can you post a link for a good website sells those parts?

Yes get the complete (2 belts) set. The Gates belts are a lot stronger as well and just a better belt. http://performancenissanparts.com/ca...roducts_id=351

I'm fairly sure that the same belt is used for the UR under-drive crank pulley and the complete set...the under-drive portion is done just on the crank - the other pulleys are lightier, but same diameter. (the under-drive part is what changes the diamater and thus requires a different size belt.)

so you are saying i can run the crank pully with the existing belt i have on my car

Why did they make it smaller diameter than stock?

Its lighter as well but to spin faster.

Here's gates' belts size that you need;

Gates Micro-V K060445 ( 21mm x 1150mm O.C.) and Gates Micro-V K040353 ( 14mm x 910mm O.C.)

You definately need a new belt for the UR pulley

The pulley is an underdrive meaning it does not drive the accessory's that run off it as it would at the stock pulley's rpm...Running accessories at a lower rpm reduces Tq needed to drive them allowing more engine tq. to the wheels...The lower accessory's rpm seems not to be a problem since many of these pulleys are on ZZZZZ'S. The new belt is needed to fit the diameter of the u\r pulley groove...As has been pointed out it's also lighter where most of it's benefit comes into play..

No - you DO need a new belt if you have an under -drive cran pulley. (What I was trying to say was that both the UR pulley SET and just the UR crank pulley require the same belts - which are different than stock)

sorry for the confusion.

Go with gatorbacks. I've used OEMs and Gates. All squealed on me. Gatorbacks are supposed to be one of the only ones that don't do this. I can find the part number later, or pm Rhoads
