Cosworth 350Z

Hi,

Apparently Cosworth is working on a crate engine for the 350Z. They already have ported heads and some other stuff available...

LOL, Cosworth is having a problem with their site, they somehow messed their MySQL database up. It'll get fixed soon enough...

link worked for me . A Subaru STI short block [ only on with a price ] $5,125.00 . Think the short block for our cars is going to be very pricey !!!!!!

Cosworth is shooting for a June release on most of their parts. Not sure about the crate motor. It shouldn't be long after that.

Zexy 04-12-2006 07:17 AM

Damn the heads are pricey.

rednezz 04-12-2006 08:14 AM

The heads are supposed to have reshaped combustion chamber and ports. They are supposed to flow up to 22% more on the intake and up to 41% more on the exhaust. Plus they come with an upgraded valve train to support some radical cams. In my opinion not a bad price if they flow as well as they say they do.

bacalhau16 04-12-2006 04:58 PM

wait, nobody said a price yet for the Z. that price was for a STI, so we dont know how much its gonna be. Those do sound like some very good gains.

Look at the price chart. Retail price is clearly shown :)

Cosworth are some great mofos at what they do(Build F1 motors don't they?)
But i'd rather build and take my own heads to my local machine shop which charge less and do excellent work as well.:D

I want them just so I can put a Cosworth badge on the trunk :)

These are new heads, that why the price is so expensive. The heads will be fully built minus the cams. To me, this is not a bad price at all. If you want to recovery some of your money, just sell your stock ones.

Where did you see this price? I have their price sheet in front me, and it still says TBD. If that is the true price, that is a STEAL in a big way. And Cosworth typically does not require a core. I would easily pay $10000 for that setup.

Ah, but you forgot the block, assembly, and everything else. I thought you meant that the crate motor was $8000'ish, which is just not possible. :)

dens_310 04-15-2006 06:58 AM

pretty expensive head....

It's actually a bargain. It includes brand new OEM heads (no core exchange), and all the parts and labor. Everything but a cam. I think it qualifies as a "great deal". :D
