Clutch isn't coming up all the way? Help wanted.

Hey Guys,

It just started getting into the 90's in my area. I was driving around in my 06 350z and when I went to shift I would press the clutch down and shift as usual, but when I release the clutch, it will stop and not come up all the way, and I would have to kick it up all the way with my foot. What is causing this, is this a common problem for Z owners when it gets hot?, or should I have this looked at my next oil/filter change which is in a week?

Thanks in advance,
Dan

While that covers 07s, I believe some 06 owners had similar problems.

Thanks for the link, do you think I should call 1800NISSAN1 and describe my problem to them?, or should I call my local Nissan dealorship and see what thy can do. I feel like my 06 does have the same probl as the many 07s that are having this problem.

check fluid level first before you call anyone

I have an 06 and I have had this problem of the clutch pedal sticking to the floor and going very soft /light when it is hot, usually over 25C. After leaving it for half an hour or so the clutch is ok again

I just got a 120k service and and asked the mechanic who did the service to change the clutch fluid as well. Its all done now and the clutch definitely feels firmer than was.

The mechanic who did the work said that the brake fluid looked clean but that the clutch fluid is was filthy. I look in the service manual and the brake fluid gets changed every 40K's but there is no mention of a change of clutch fluid. I'll see how it goes we are in autumn now so probably won't know till next summer.

Anyway if you are out of warranty I get the fluid changed first, then look at the master cylinder.

Hey I'm having the same problem on my 05. I recently had a new clutch and slave cylinder put in (not related to the clutch pedal not coming out), and it's still happening.

I'm probably going to change the clutch fluid today and I'll let you know how it goes.

Cheers

I changed my clutch fluid which involved using a turkey baster to suck up the clutch fluid, put more in, pump the clutch. I repeated this three times till the clutch fluid looked clear.

I drove around and it was good for a bit, but the sticking started again. I checked my clutch fluid and the fluid was again dirty. I think I'm going to keep doing this cycle until the fluid is clean.

The dirty clutch fluid looked like cloudy orange Gatorade.
