Default What are the best bolt-on's for power gains?

Hi guys! As the title states, what are the best brand of bolt-ons for power? Like what brand of header, exhaust, intake, etc...gains more power than the rest?

I've been following the Evo8 for a long time, but then just yesterday was introduced to the 350Z. Needless to say, I fell in love, and no long am in pursuit of an Evo. No I'm wanting to buy myself a 350Z.

I like show cars, but I believe a car should be able to back up it's looks with power. I'm not wanting to go into the whole FI route. I would like to keep in NA for now. Thanks for your help!

You want NA power go the Crawford Z Car route.

They have plenty information up at www.crawfordzcar.com

The Intake Plenum alone pretty much transforms the car from a car that makes 287 HP @ 6200 RPM when redline is 6600 RPM.

To a car that makes 300HP @ 6500 RPM.

The horsepower curve does not start dipping at 6200 RPM anymore. It just climbs all the way to redline.

Price is 300-500 i believe. Depending on if you trade them plenums.

actually the price is 500 if you send in your original plenum and 700 if you decide to keep your plenum.

Dont people read threads anymore? This questions is what this whole engine/drivetrain catagory is all about.. If you just read the last 3 or 4 pages you would know EVERYTHING about the Crawford stuff and what Mods work the best or what they do..

Im sorry if this seems a lil mean but im just getting tired of hearing what does CAI do? What is a Crawford? There are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO Many posts on this board just scrolling thew a few or a simple serch would save a lot of space and get rid of a lot of junk.. Ok im done

Damn I got up on the wrong side of the bed today

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 287 HP that Nissan quotes the "flywheel" HP?? Isn't the real world "Rear Wheel" HP more in the range of 245 HP on a stock Z?

he is comparing flywheel hp with flywheel hp.. he is saying the Crawford Plenum will give you enough *FLYWHEEL* hp to be around 300hp at the *FLYWHEEL*

Yes, I agree 100% that he is comparing flywheel with flywheel, but isn't the rear wheel hp the "what really matters" number?? I mean the flywheel number is great and I suppose that yes, you could get 300 hp if you threw a crawford plenum on a stock Z if you went with that number... but your "actual" hp would be more in the range of 260 hp with the plenum.

Yes I was crankie LOL.. Im sorry and I apoligize.. I just ate lunch and feeling much better now hehe..

1. Crawford headers
2. Crawford High flow cats
3. Crawford Intake manifold
4. Stillen/Borla/Injen exhaust

Thats about it for basic bolt ons.. But with those 4 mods you can get almost 50 HP at redline.. Maybe 20ish at Peak.. Also the torque is pretty good for these items. That is all I would do for now..

But it also comes with a price about 3K

Call and talk to Doug. They wait may be less now. When I ordered mine, they had just ordered a bunch of extra cores so they could meet demand for the plenums. Mine came pretty quickly...

So what are the Best Boltóns for power gains????????'
Not to sound like an a$$, but those wondering this really should do a forum search on each component they are considering changing.

The bottom line is that there are different answers depending on what you want. For example, I'd recommend going with the Borla exhaust because it is a good power gain, but is still somewhat civil and looks basically stock from anywhere buy underneath the car. However, if you don't mind angled tips and a louder, ricier sound... the Injen may be for you because it makes more power.

So, pick what component you want to mod and check some other threads... to get the results right for you, it's worth it to spend a little time researching instead of being spoon fed what someone else think's is best for you.

I totally agree, but my main point was to get research from people who have tried and true results. I'm looking for the best possible combo to extract as much hp out of it as I can without doing nitrous or FI. I totally agree with you. I hate the people who don't research and they just repost all day long. But I did research just so you know. I'm new to the 350Z area, so I don't know who makes parts, and what parts are the best. Now as far as Honda's or the Evo 8 area goes, I'm well informed, but like I said, the 350Z is a new specialty to me. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

Well the Borla TD Exhaust is $700.
Crawford Intake Plenum is $500.
So thats $1200.

I really hope the High-Flow Cats and Headers dont cost $1800 combined.

I think the Z is a far sexier car than the EVO8. But as far as aftermarket goes. It would take $4,000 to match what you can do to that EVO8 for under $1,000. I wouldn't put a CAI on your Z even if someone gave it to you for free. As far as Exhaust you will get like 5-10hp and TQ to the rear wheels if your lucky. Some state losses. I know all this and am still gonna get Borla headers and Exhaust but I just don't want you to be misled or surprised to find out that it is hard to sqeeze much more HP and TQ out of this NA V6 without going the FI route. But Im getting mine because Im sure they will register well on my butt dyno!
Good Luck.

Because of the restrictions of the ECM parameters, it is best to optimize what is already there while choosing a plan for tuning, IMHO.

OCG35Coupe

Borla : 650 + Shipping + some need it to be installed
Crawford : 450 + Shipping
Crawford high flow cats : 500 + Shipping
Crawford headers : 1200 - 1600 + shipping + Install

You do the math.... 2800/3200 $$$ depending on headers.. Thats NOT including shipping or install..

Am I missing something?

"EnthuZiast" who in the hell is in your avatar? If he shaved his head, he'd look a hell of a like Eminem. But on a different note,

thanks for all of your responses. And yes, I do agree that the Z looks a hell of a lot better than the Evo8. The only thing that catches my eye about the Evo is you can lug mor than just 1 friend around in it, plus there's so much HP and torque you can extract from it over the Z (without going FI or Nitrous). But considering you can't do much in the NA field, I'm sure I'll end up taking an alternative route once I get to that point.
