Default Rogue Engineering Short Shifter review

I just installed it, was quite easy and straight forward. The instructions are very easy to follow since they are step-by-step with pictures of each step.

Like Jesse said, the only hard part was the removing the stock shifter from the socket. It took us a while to think up a way to get it out with ease, but when we finally figured it out, it was a breeze. And now I'll show you how to do it without even damaging the socket.

We placed the shifter upside down inside a jack so that it will be resting above the ground so that we can just tap it out with a hammer from the top.

To install it we just put it right side up and tapped it in, but we put it a 12mm screw so that it wouldn't damage the thread when we tapped it in.

EASY!!

I ran into a problem that was a bit dumb but I'll say anyways just in case someone runs into the same problem. When you put the shifter back in from underneath and then try to put it into 5th gear, don't go all the way to the right. Going all the way to the right permits it from going in. That is why they tell you to realign the shift plate. DOH!

Now with the shifter in, it feels more precise than stock, feels smoother, not too notchy like stock, my 1st and 2nd gear seem to be easier to get into now, and lastly the the shifter vibrates less, but that could have been due to the NISMO Titanium shitfer I put in which was a bit heavy to my surprise (it wasn't the GT **** BTW).

Overall, it is a great mod with no problems, I like it a lot and would recommend it to all Z owners.

Some more tips I forgot to mention..

When removing the stock **** it is best to put something rubber around the stock **** so you don't damage it when twisting it off.

When you remove the stock **** you need 2 Vise grips or some similar tool. One to twist the **** off and 1 to counter-twist so that the linkage underneath doesn't bend.

Oh yeah when you use the hammer to tap the shifter in, you only need slight taps, it doesn't require a big tap from the hammer.

Default twisting te **** off

haven't done the shifter upgrade yet , but I have this craftsman "rubber strap wrench" that is ideal for this kind of
**** removal.. etc. Very good grip , no scratches. Just a great tool to give or give or get as a stocking stuffer this Xmas.
