Tilton owner's please respond

I received my Tilton package today and it says that I have to modify the throw out bearing. Is this correct?

Also, I got a CD but there is nothing on it. Is that where the instructions are supposed to be?

Can someone post instructions on how to install the pedal stop?

I have a phone call and an email into Jason, but I have to take this item to the dealer tonight. So I was hoping someone could help out.

Thanks in advance,

Geoff (Zillinois)

My factory clutch blew up.

daddyz Nov 4, 2004 06:06 PM

How much was the clutch? Is it for FI?

jdm3fiddyZ Nov 4, 2004 07:25 PM

the clutch and flywheel are 1300 for the package i think. That thing is suppose to be crazy though....jason said it holds with our vorteched Z's during acceleration....guess thats what an 8 lbs flywheel does compared to our stock 30+ lbs ones...

daddyz - I got the street version. Available from Performance Nissan for $1400+ shipping.

BriGuy - It was more like 13 track days & 5 trips to the 1/4 mile.:D

The street Titlon will only handle about 300 hp to the wheels. The Semi-Street Tilton will handle like 600 hp. But the tilton is kinda hard to use.

So did it actually "blow up" or just wear out and start slipping??

There wasn't enough left of it for the mechanic to show me. Plus the flywheel was cooked. :icon11: While driving, the pedal just went to the floor and stayed there.

Car should be back tonight!!

Sounds like you boiled your clutch fluid honestly.

This happened to a few header equipped cars that ran hard at the Dragon.

Might want to wrap that clutch line a bit more, and move to a more aggressive fluid for your master cylinder.

As for the setup, I love it... However I don't see why the throwout bearing would be modified.

Which Tilton do you have Phoenix?

The clutch plate on those cars at TOTD exploded from boiled fluid?

As for the TOB, there was a paper with instructions on it with the kit that said how to modify the TOB. Jason said that all I needed was to use the TOB that was supplied, but that I could use a factory one if it was modified.
