Got used 350z - can't get down driveway, and what body kit do I have?
So I got a used 350z from a dealer (2003), and have no idea what body kit came on it (I like it though):
http://www.future-shocked.com/files/...7998c3892a.jpg Also, my driveway goes up slightly then down, which causes my Z to scrape REALLY bad on it (only did it once). It's pretty bad in terms of incline, my fiancee's GS 430 actually scrapes if the car is full of people, and that thing is pretty high off the ground. I'm wondering if my car came lowered, since it rides really, really firm. You feel every bump in the road, more so than I'd expect for a stock car (even a sporty one). Can anyone tell from these pics of my car is lowered? http://www.future-shocked.com/files/...c1bd5c92ab.jpg http://www.future-shocked.com/files/...1cc85a5dc6.jpg I'm wondering if I put the stock springs back in if I'd be able to get down the driveway. I think I saw air shocks on here that you can buy, but I don't want to spend a couple thousand just to get down the driveway, and I also don't know if they screw up the handling (hopefully not). |
Stillen front bumper. It doesn't look lowered from those pics. The only way you can tell is if you pull a wheel off and snap some pics of the suspension for us.
|
Id return it. Did you get a good price?

driveways are a pain. I drove one to my house to make sure it would get up my driveway without dragging before I put money down on one.
its hard to tell with those pics but I don't think its lowered but if it is its not much. Where is it dragging? front/back/middle Pics of the driveway ? |
Actually, I think the last shot with the parking bumper is the best shot to tell. It does look like it was lowered....

Maybe if you take a shot from the side kneeling down so the camera is actually looking up slightly or directly lined even we might get a better precise view of any gap. These shots appear to be taken with you standing with the camera angled slightly down

Isnt that stuff you should know before you buy.

This is what happens when you do absolutely ZERO research before buying.
Those wheels look horrible polished. |
The Stillen bumper sticks out further by an inch or two, so that probably doesn't help either.

As for the driveway, it's just a rental house that I'll only be at for a year or two, so I'm not going to buy a different car just for a short time period. I do have parking in front on the street, I just like to park in the driveway if possible. My lowered TL could make it over with driveway with light scraping, yet when I test drove the 350z it didn't scrape on driveways that the TL would sometimes hit (with the front bumper of the TL, it didn't have a body kit or anything). I think the problem is the driveway going up then down, as the 350z seems to scrape the front kit less frequently than the TL did (unfortunately it seems to be the middle of the Z that's scraping, so probably the exhaust). |

i have a 2003
get uest to the stiff ride because thats how these cars are my 03' feels like theres no suspension and everything is just welded bars as for the driveway, if its your private driveway, pour a little quickcreet (SP) in it to make it a smoother drop so you wont drag oh yea, get some new wheels, those are horrible stock wheels that are polished |

You should get the Stillen splitter for that kit too. It would make the car a little lower, but I think it looks better with it. Doesn't look like the car has been lowered at all, and your car just rides that way. GL with everything. Trying going in at more of an angle if possible.

Those wheels look horrible polished. While I agree with your comments, it's posts like this that make me embarrassed to have become a Premiere member. "Hey welcome to our forum. You're an asshat." |
