Kick butt shift knob!

got this bad boy from TWM Performance. it's their Desert Eagle weighted knob and i do mean weighted. the knob is 1.32lbs!

and no, its not huge. shifter feel was good anyway on the Z, but this makes it a tad better, plus it looks nice.

needs a finisher.

Is there some kind of benifit to it being 'weigted'.

I love the way the Z shifts in factory form and I love the feel of it, too.

you mean like brushed or polished? if so, i opted for the satin finish to match the aluminum inside the car.

Blu_Blur - some people like the way it feels, the weight at the top end of the shifter acts as a counterweight of sorts, just makes the throws smoother.

How Much And How I Get One

SuperBlack350z 07-16-2007 11:36 AM

twm makes nice knobs and shifters. My buddy got one on his celica and i doubted the 1 lb part. He dropped it from a foot on top of my head and it hurt like hell.

meaj82 07-16-2007 11:36 AM

very nice, does it get extreamely hot in the sun??? I debating on getting the Nismo hard rubber gt shifter because here in texas anything metal burns like shieet

BlueBallZ 07-16-2007 12:07 PM

kind of looks like the nismo Ti one

350Z84 07-16-2007 12:14 PM

It's heavy so it can be used as an emergency glass breaker in case you lock yourself in.

well i just put it on today and the car has been in the shade thus far, so i can't say for sure.

but i can say this, it is made of a big chunk of stainless steel, so if you can imagine how that would feel sitting in the sun for a couple hours.....lol. i use a window shade in the front and the rest are tinted well enough that it shouldn't be an issue.

You could put a SOLO cup over it until you drive.

silvey_03 07-16-2007 02:21 PM

TWM makes great shift knobs...i had one in my spec v and it made a world of difference... they are pricey but i feel they are worth...oh yeah +1 on it getting very hot especially here in my 115 degree heat.

They also had a PLATINUM version awhile back for like $75K-100K or something ridiculous :D

edit: apparently it sold at auction for $75K...

Mazinger Z 07-16-2007 04:28 PM

Sweet looks nice, how does it feel when shifting? I had a "heavy" one too, but not 1lb!
