So two 12's broke my Homelink rearview mirror... Warranty?

Cruising on my way to work this morning thumping some "Nuthin But a G Thang" by Dr. Dre on two RF P3 12's powered by a Memphis 1000D. Next thing you know, my rearview mirror falls off. I'm thinking, ok maybe it's detatchable or a screw fell out-WRONG. The 1/2" thick die-cast aluminum post that attaches it to the windsheild mount SNAPPED!

Is this something that could be covered under warranty? Just bought my car in January 2007.

Wow bud I've heard about that happening but never have seen it. I think that would be under warranty, sense there is no way to prove if it was defective or the stereo.

HUH?!:icon22: I dont know what your talking about? I got more Bass then a Crack house in my car to. I love that ****! My friend hat 5 Matt Speakers in his Trunk and it busted up his hinges. LOL, That's when we started using that term. So what are you trying to say man, be clear, cause I dont know you.

Pull the subs, go to dealership, get new mirrior.
Memphis, yummy.

RedBullRR Sep 20, 2007 07:11 AM

Oh, and I think the dealer will cover this if you take out the subs.

DVFlyer Sep 20, 2007 07:26 AM

Would they even see the subs? They would have no reason to look in the hatch.

phreaktor Sep 20, 2007 07:50 AM

Can I go to any dealer or would I have to go where I bought it? Sorry never had to deal with stealerships other than buying my car..

iStan Sep 20, 2007 07:54 AM

Ideally you'd want to check out your region and look for a preffered dealership. But, you do not have to go back to the dealership you purchased from (Think of the used car buyers)

pics of the subs!

I had this same exact issue and when I took my car in to get a new one they said that "I broke the mirror with force" so they would not replace it. They basically told me that I ripped it off and that it didn't break by itself.

Good luck hope they actually replace yours.

gsazabi Sep 20, 2007 10:56 PM

Wow good luck fixing it..
IMHO two 12"s are just overkill for the Z. I used to have 2 10"s and I thought even that was loud..

350Z84 Sep 20, 2007 11:03 PM

I would think it would be covered under the warranty. I know lots of people with systems in their Z's, and never had this happen to it.

hndumafia Sep 20, 2007 11:36 PM

happened to me twice. both times it was replaced for free under warranty. good thing too since the homelink mirror is like 400 bucks or something crazy around there.

Swiffer Sep 21, 2007 03:40 AM

AroundMyHorn Sep 21, 2007 06:10 AM

hatchboi Sep 21, 2007 06:47 AM
