Tint along top of windshield (brow)

Was wondering if anyone has ever gotten this on their Z. I have seen 1 or 2 pics with it it, but couldn't tell if it was a custom windshield with tint built into the glass, or just a strip of reg tint.

Also, I notice on the tint laws page, there's a column marked "Visor". Does that refer to this? And if I live in a state that's marked "NO" under visor, would I get pulled over for it?

Where do you put your EZ Pass if not there (it looks like a big dumb white square on ur car if you attach it next to the rearview).

the strip along the top of the windshield is called a visor tint. usually they are allowed in almost every state i believe

sh** not mine...

Just tint the whole windshield with 50% and call it a day. The strip looks dumb.

Interesting.

Thanks for the info.

Empire, is that the Stillen license bracket?

Do whatever you want if it's legal (or not if you so choose). Just don't go below the marking on the inside of your windshield that indicates the lowest it can go. I forget what it's called, as I haven't seen one in a while. It's on either side.

New Jersey Tint Law Enacted: 2003
HOW DARK CAN WINDOW TINT BE IN NEW JERSEY?

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In New Jersey, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.

Windshield No tint is allowed on the windshield.
Front Side Windows No tint can be applied legally to this window.
Back Side Windows Any darkness can be used.
Rear Window Any darkness can be used.

HOW REFLECTIVE CAN THE TINT BE IN NEW JERSEY?

Similar to sunglass lenses, some tinting film contain metallic elements that help in reflecting incoming light and reducing the glare and heat generated by visible light.

Front Side Windows No metallic or mirrored appearance.
Back Side Windows No metallic or mirrored appearance.

Well, I had front windows tinted in my last car for 2 years, no tickets.

Then, as I'm driving to the dealership to trade the car in for the Z, I get stopped.

I am def gonna get the rear sides and trunk done.. prolly 35%... and maybe do the sides a real light tint so it's mostly unnoticeable.

The visor area is wht does my head in. How's that illegal? Almost every car I've ever had, had it factory. My EZ Pass looks like a big retarded white pillbox taped to my windshield.

ehsan 07-02-2011 10:07 AM

50 is not hard to see out of at night?

Brogan07 07-02-2011 10:12 AM

What should I tell my doctor to get him to give me a note for legal tint I wonder...?

ehsan 07-02-2011 10:40 AM

you wear contacts? eyes sensitive? lol

Brogan07 07-02-2011 01:07 PM

No, but I have white, pasty Conan O'Brien skin.

Toby-22 07-02-2011 02:18 PM

i got 35% on my windshield yesterday to match my 35% sides and rear. Took it off this morning, couldnt see at night. plus the windshield appeared darker than the sides and rear looking from both inside and out.

like already said, remove strip and go with 50% entire windshield

haha I know right. I live in Az and I've never had a cop hassle me about tint on any of my 3 cars I've owned. Right now I have 5% on the sides and back and 20% on the windshield. Maybe cops sympathize with us cuz its so damn hot in the summer :D

LaoSiFu 07-02-2011 02:42 PM

Just curious for the people with 50% on the windshield. How is your night visibility in your opinion?
