350z Sun Roof...Pro's and Con's

Im about half a hair away from buying a SunRoof for the Z...its 1100 Installed for a power sun roof. Looking for some opinions.. Fill it away...pro's con's, Rice or not..just curious to see the feedback on a sun roof for Z

Aside the fact the car's not made for it and the clam shell like roof makes the flat sunroof look odd.

wind drag, more weight, $ and sun burns

If Nissan did not think it should have one I don't think it should have one either. Sell yours buy a ZR problem solved.

only a few people have done it. i would never do it. better off getting a G35.

bmccann101 Jan 26, 2012 09:13 AM

1110 is far too ,much, most places charge 700 -799 installed.

If its your thing,m ive looked into it, and it works jsut fine, theres already threads and pictures and accounts of quality etc on the thread, search my friend.

Or all youre going to get is the normal crew telling you its bunk...haha. :)

do what you want... but if youre tall, meh.. id not.

If youre short, well... sorry first off.. haha.. and second, go for it.

A sunroof will be cool. Do it.

EDIT: Well its cool if you do it. If not this is just another gonnaget thread.

Lame! Don't do it. Do you have an overwhelming need to see the sky from your car?

Srsly though... You've been here since May 2005 and you are asking this question????

The roof portion is too small. The sunroof opening will be miniscule.
Also, when it open, its gonna stick out towards the back of the car.
Will look dope.
I had one installed in my daughters Eclipse quite some time ago.
Same thing...opening small...sticks out the back.
Sunroofs are made to go into the roof, not stick out .

Don't do it or,buy a G.

A friend of mine bought a Z that came with a sunroof. He seriously thought it was part of the trim... Until I told him the bad news. lol

I've heard alot of people complain that the seals go bad after a few months and water will leak into your car, i personally wouldnt go for it but it's your car and your money lol

StAtiXz6 Jan 26, 2012 04:28 PM

yeah destroy the most curved beautiful teardrop roof by cutting a hole in it and installing flat heavy glass and black urethane by a company im sure is your areas equivalent to west coast customs. bleck. dont let xzibit talk you in to ridiculous mods. (if you could even call it a mod)
dont do it, i know how they do aftermarket sunroofs. its very shotty at best. it will destroy the value of the car completely and look horrible. you would regret it after the first day.
get another set of wheels or a 240sx for $2k.

I've not seen a t-top/TARGA done on a Z.
Are there any pics of what is used for the roof?
I'd be worried about structural stuff...body stiffness.
Lamborghini has a similar "targa" type removable panel on one of their cars.
From what I've seen on the panel, its pretty complex to install.
Also, for a removable roof to me made,it would have to in a size to stow in the rear of the Z which as you know is not much room.Again,I wonder what type of panel is being used for this Z conversion?
