Deteriorating Dashboard Vents

So, I'm having issues with the dash on my 06' Roadster. I'm trying desperately to figure out a way to either replace or fix these deteriorating corner vents, but I can't seem to find a part # to replace them? Has anyone else had this issue? I think those vents may be a part of the entire dashboard. I don't want to replace the entire thing (it's otherwise in good shape), but it's driving me crazy staring at these horribly deteriorated vents every time I drive the car. It's this way on both sides. Otherwise, the interior is in good shape. Any help? If they can't be easily replaced, how can I try and have them fixed so they don't look so terrible? |
I've never seen the plastic deteriorate that much with the dashboard vents. What kind of cleaner/protectant have you been using on the dash? Your best bet may be checking local salvage yards or ebay for a used dashboard.

It was this way when I bought the car (I got it about 3 months ago used). I don't know what the prior owner used on it. I really don't want to go through replacing an entire dashboard....

There's really nothing you can do to repair those vents when the plastic is degraded that badly. How do the vents on the passenger side look?

2 things you can do;
1. call Nissan and ask the parts department for the part #. :rolleyes: 2. get a G2 caliper or similar epoxy paint. Tape the dash around the vents and paint'em. The thick epoxy paint should make'em smooth. They'll look better than new. Got to do at least 2 coats. Used G2 on my calipers and the stuff is great. |
I know it has been 3 years but what did you do?
