Seat slides problem

Has anyone experienced their seat rails tightening up so as to not allowing adjustments or causing the nylon gear to fail repeatedly?
.
I took them apart and discovered nylon slides between the metal rails. Apparently they are there to allow the seat rails to move with less friction. These slides have steel barrel rollers at their ends. I removed these steel barrel rollers and now the slides move freely.
.
i checked the steel seat slides for straightness in all directions and they were fine.
.
I am curious why my seat became so difficult to move forward and backwards.
