A/F gauge f'ing up..

along with my other trouble im having with my car im having, now my aem wideband a/f gauge is going up to 17.x or so sometimes reading out full lean, if i go to redline, the gauge is not reading below 14.X . shouldn't it be reading a bit lower closer to redline ? anyone else have a similiar issue ? any way to test this other than put it on a dyno with a/f gauge ? im planning on going up to z1motorsports next week to have them take a look at the car.

Possible faulty o2 sensor that came with the gauge. It happened with my Greddy A/F gauge.

im sure they won't just send me a sensor and le me send this one back either, i'll have to take it all out, ship it, the test it, then ship me another one :(

The other choice is to get the car on a wideband a/f meter and a dyno and get the thing tuned....then see where you're AEM compares to a true wideband.

There are at least two well known causes for an early demise of wideband O2 sensors, high heat and moisture.
You can prolong sensor life by:

a) moisture: the O2 bung should be welded into the pipe pre cat / post downpipe at an angle >10degrees from horizon. This allows moisture to drain away from the sensor when cold.

b) heat : use a heat sink such as one sold by :

Note: if you run test pipes , moveing the bung back further away from the downpipe offer similar benefit as the thermal isolator above.

I agree before assuming it is the wideband get that thing to a dyno and check it out to make sure it is not the tune.

if you are using the AEM widband, mine broke too. AEM says they are defective, and wants me to send back the entire unit for a replacement/fix. Mine last 8000miles before it broke.

i have less than 1000 miles :( , i am going to HATE to have to take that thing out and ship it back to them.

Mine is bad as well. I have like 4000 miles on it. I have to send it baack to aem as well. ITs gonna be a b!tch to take it out and then put it back in. They want the whole unit inlcuidng the o2 sensor.
