I need a catch-can, but am undecided on which one, need pics
I have the ARC on my car...very nice unit, fits like crap though quite honestly (had to trim my strut brace (Cusco), and the bracket they supplied was totally off). Overall a 1 hour project turned into a 5 hour marathon, but the net result is it looks great.
Kwame has the Cusco in his car - it did not take him nearly as long to install his!

What size tubing do I need for our cars? I see options for 9mm and 15mm. Any recommendations on which might be easier to mount? Greddy or Cusco? I guess you guys just took a trip to Home Depot for the random hardware to mount them somewhere to a bolt in the engine?
Thanks for any info!

I'm having the same issue as you right now with the blow by. My catch can just came in tonight and I'll install it tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.
I've got the greddy catch can. Not the best out there *IMO. The view hose on mine is black... wtf? For me to check to see if there's oil I gott unscrew the bottom. Havent gotten around to trying to find a clear tube to replace the black tube with. Also the hosing they provide sucks! It would kink under vacuum after a WOT run and cause the car to smoke. Had to replace w/ better quality racing type hosing which is much firmer and didn't kink under vacuum. Problem solved. If you get the greddy catch can just take these in mind just in case.
Samco superflex is great for the kink issue. Steel braid reinforced. For the 9mm catch cans this should fit. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku
Juztin - who did you get it from? We have the GReddy ones in stock from time to time and have them installed on 2 of our older Z's and both have clear view hoses. While I don't use their supplied hosing on these cars (because the clear would look goofy in our engine bays, we used black), I did use the Greddy can and hoses on my Galant VR4 and never ran into an issue.
The Cusco can which we always stock comes with spiral wound reinforced hosing fwiw (these pics show the older version hoses)

Z1 - I picked it up from Forged. The black view hose is more of a pet peeve and really not a big issue - but the hosing provided with the kit definately kinks really easily and for good measure should be replaced with some high quality stuff as recommended by Rookie in his post earlier.
most of these cans do not serve proper function and are mostly for looks. I would be curious what is inside the ARC one, it wouldnt surprise me if they did it right.
Then again, most people dont install them properly either. I would like to see how ARC is telling you guys to plumb it in, anyone care to describe?
I plan on doing a nice PCV setup this winter, I like how the ARC one fits in there over a universal... but if it doesnt have anything to seperate the oil from the vapor on the inside (if its just plain open like the greddy ones for example) then I will be getting a different one.
How much is the ARC?

I wonder if the ARC one might actually be a coolant overflow tank? AAM have modified it to work as a catch tank? OR Nismo are just using it as an overflow tank? The Nismo RS Concept car runs one setup as an overflow tank? If this is the case then there would not be any internal baffling?

the ARC one is a catch can - they advertise it as such - it's most definitely not an overflow can of any sort as it installs to the crankcase vent "nipples" on either side of the motor.

Inside I've never seen it but as I recall from talking to one of the "sans" from ARC it's baffled internally. But I have it in my car and is has trapped the small amount of residue I'd expect from an NA car with my mileage. I believe AAM caps the top vent ports and welds a nipple to the can that then connects pre turbo.
As for the Cusco and Greddy types, they work just fine in fact. If you vent one end to atmosphere, it does not need any medium sitting inside (at least none from what I've found and I've used them on many of my own cars going back to the mid 90's). If you decide to make it a fully closed loop system, then adding some steel wool to the inside is recommended, or you can simply drain it at every oil change (I've run them both ways in my own cars)
Juztin - interesting - I've never seen it with the black tube - maybe some sort of oddball batch Greddy did (happens from time to time on mass produced stuff)
