It's *finally* Begun.. Engine Build!

woot. after ~12k miles on my PE TT... after road racing and drifting (ie. bangin' off rev limiter) and many full boost runs.... with no problems what so ever.. i've finally dropped off the Z today to get the new engine put in ... ;)

TechnoSquare is gonna play with the stock engine and raise current boost levels until it pops (on their chassis dyno) to get more ECU map @ different timing & A/F settings... and then proceed to do the new engine install.. we'll have some interesting #s soon... X your fingers!

Finally.. i get to join the Built Engine Club! woot.

pictures of build will be slowly posted... yay.. i cant wait!!

"TechnoSquare is gonna play with the stock engine and raise current boost levels until it pops"

Why would you blow up a good engine that you might be able to get even $800 bucks for? Just wondering? :)

1. so the Tuners personally know the physical limits of a stock engine
2. to generate more indepth 6/7/8/9/10/11/XXpsi & XX.X AFR & XX Timing ECU maps for stock block & Boost, SAFELY on the chassis Dyno that has load.

Forget the money - you run the risk of trashing your heads too - got to be the most silly thing I've read all day...

built motors arent 100%, what if you pop your built motor? you wont have a spare. are they gonna buy it from you, since they are using it for their personal gain?

Good Luck;)

whip24lash Jul 12, 2006 06:10 PM

Very Unwise, but if you want to blow an engine for statistical reasons, all the power to you.

Safely on a dyno that has load ?????

I blew my head gasket on the dyno ...with load . If you had it on a Dynojet and flogged it...that would be safer, wouldnt it ?

KTaylor Jul 12, 2006 06:27 PM

what cc's are those injectors?

taurran Jul 12, 2006 07:05 PM

Awesome, can't wait to hear how this goes. You don't see too many built PETT cars around.

Got any more specs on that clutch? I've never read about it.

Let's see what's up?

Goodluck.

Looking forward to the results of the stock block limits. :icon9: Good luck with the built motor!

congratulations on taking the next step. i will be curious to see the power you get from your turbos at various boost levels. very cool.

which headgaskets are you going to use, and are you going to run a special headstud setup for extra torque?

If my ATS twin carbon dies anytime soon, i might try that clutch next.

Alberto Jul 13, 2006 04:08 AM

Very cool, good luck with the build and keep us posted. Why did you choose those internals if you dont mind me asking? I havent seen many JE pistons or Carillo rods being used...

mistaboosta Jul 13, 2006 04:19 AM

those injectors are only 550cc, what is your target hp? GOOD LUCK with your new build!

Brian@Performance Jul 13, 2006 07:59 AM

Woohoo! Go Cheston! :D

gringott Jul 13, 2006 08:25 AM

Best of luck with all.

Forgot to mention i have spare VQ-- so all the engine testing will be done with the stock block, and the new build will be done on the spare--

as far head gasket- with my intentions for a reliable and decent power build.. i'll try to make due with stock head gasket... but i do hear that HKS head gasket is now available- i need to read up on it more.

Booger: load dyno = better tuning results Imho..

Alberto: the JE/Carrillo were Nissan Motorsport prototypes given to us for developmental purposes...they've been dust bunnies ever since Techno did the ECU & PE TT development back in 04. so. just time to use em.

my target HP is 550rwhp/550+ ft/lb ~1 bar on stock ECU reflashing/scaling of the MAF and injectors..... can i make it? i dunno. we'll see. we might try to develop a larger MAF or retro fit MAF sensor from a different car into the Z.

right now i'm still on stock cats, JIC ypipe and RSR GT2 mag exhaust.. so that'll limit my initial hp results after the engine build...

anything can happen..... thanks for all the well wishes/thoughts.. it'll be exciting.

Sharif@Forged Jul 13, 2006 11:48 AM

I am sure you'll hit 500whp easily on that stock block for testing purposes. A few dyno pulls isnt too terrible bad for the engine. Go for it! Just make sure to stand well clear of that engine. :)

Congrats on the buildup finally commencing. If you need anything, as always, dont hesitate to call.

Quamen Jul 13, 2006 11:49 AM

I must say that you have a very different setup compared to what most people have. Way to go!
