Can't boost in 1st - Check out my logs
I have APS TT with CJM Stage2 and UTEC.
I have noticed that I cant seem to boost in 1st gear, it seems to fall flat on its face right as it goes into positive vaccum. The wastegates seem to be opening and closing. Any ideas? Load column shows 00 all the way up until 5208rpm why is that? It did this yesterday as well in 1st and 2nd gear. I thought it was because I was almost out of fuel, so I filled up and it stopped occuring in 2nd gear, but still in 1st it is happening. Heres my log: 2934 014 -8.2 00 ECU. rich 00000 2986 014 -8.5 00 ECU. rich 00000 3016 014 -8.5 00 ECU. rich 00000 3060 014 -8.5 00 ECU. rich 00000 3097 014 -8.6 00 ECU. rich 00000 3220 014 -8.5 00 ECU. rich 00000 3165 014 -8.6 00 ECU. rich 00000 3198 014 -8.6 00 ECU. rich 00000 3239 012 -8.6 00 ECU. rich 00000 3271 013 -9.1 00 ECU. rich 00000 3297 021 -9.0 00 ECU. rich 00000 3432 029 -6.2 00 ECU. rich 00000 3635 031 -4.1 00 ECU. rich 00000 3642 030 -3.8 00 ECU. rich 00000 3753 037 -3.8 00 ECU. rich 00000 3968 053 -2.8 00 ECU. rich 00000 4224 062 -1.2 00 ECU. rich 00000 4432 066 -0.3 00 ECU. rich 00000 4662 066 +0.1 00 ECU. rich 00000 4873 065 +0.3 00 ECU. rich 00000 4967 065 +0.4 00 ECU. rich 00000 5151 068 +0.6 00 ECU. rich 00000 5208 069 +1.9 10 +24.5 rich 00000 5747 012 +0.1 10 +24.6 rich 00000 5265 000 -7.0 00 ECU. rich 00000 5058 000 -10.6 00 ECU. rich 00000 4960 000 -11.9 00 ECU. rich 00000 Thanks for any input, Aaron |

Not a lot of setup hit full boost on first so dont worry, I'm no tuner but your timing at that high RPM seem a little high or maybe mine is just a little conservative.;)
Here's a sample of my logs on a first gear Pull PHP Code:

Wow, certainly no end to your problems.
You sure there are no leaks? Can ussually tell (at least on Greddy), with a 3rd gear low rpm drop (like 1500ish), full throttle should yield full wastegate boost by 2500-2600. Make yourself a boost leak test kit or something to make sure. Also try those gears on a hill or something to get some more load. Is positive vacuum an oxymoron? |
/\ He said he's good on 2nd and only happening on 1st, this is normal coz there is not enough load on 1st to really hit Full boost. The best way is to really a 4th gear pull and do the logs there.
|
I would disagree because I can get easily close to full in first...specially going up a hill or with a boost controller holding a start boost.
|
hill = load
i cant stay in 1st long enough to glance at my boost gauge. |

Now go to a flat road and show me some logs from a 1st gear Pull that you are hitting Full boost. |
you mean like my post about a hill before that?
not like he's doing drag up hill for times or something...it's just another way to check. |

Then I don't know why your even responding....
High boost? He's just trying to get wastegate boost... And I'll be happy to show you my peak hold from the E-01 in a video from first gear on a nice flat road... |
Don't want to argue with you coz it almost stupid to log and base your setup on a 1st gear pull or even 3rd. We need a 4th or 5th 1:1 gearing before we can decide if it is actually a leak problem. All I'm saying that it is not uncommon to hit low boost (even below WS boost) on first. I have a 4.5 WS spring and I even barely hit 4lbs of boost on first gear.
|
I don't disagree at all...trying to find a leak or find problems based on first gear isolation is not a good plan.
Is why I stated what I do for a third gear pull in my very first post.... and suggested the hill if he wanted to see how much he could pull out of first Was just thrown from your comment about not being able to hit a good number in first gear, and the drag stuff....was just offering ideas. |
finally we are on the same page...:icon18:
OP, now give us a better log, make sure hit 1 (Utec logging) to log coz that has more info. I'm also curious why there is a big jump from 5208-5747RPM. |
From what I remember, I used to hit 6-8 psi in first on my APS stock motor setup....something is wrong.
|
its not that im not getting high boost in first thats the problem, the problem is right as it goes into boost the wastegates sound like they are going open to close extremely fast and my whole car just jerks forward and backward...
|
Dunno then. If all your other gears are holding perfectly....then you probably didn't wire EVC wrong and you probably don't have a boost leak.
I'm assuming you have traction control off? Only thing I can think of is that in first gear your more likely to spin like crazy and the VDC will cut the throttle....producing a jerking type effect. Other than that, you've got me lost |
You probably DO have a boost leak, that's why your EVC was acting weird and not holding boost.
|
Evc was just configured wrong, george helped me fix that. The problem is something to do with it not going into load in 1st gear..
