Car is running lean >5.5k, tuner can't fix (vortech) Dyno Sheet!!

I just recently installed a vortech supercharger system with the 3.12 pulley... It's the complete vortech kit with fmu etc...

The tuner from Split Second (the mfr of the piggyback) called today and after 3 hours they still can't fix it... The car is leaning out above 5500rpms...

His guess is fuel pressure...

I am pretty broke so I don't know where to go from here...

Any help is much appreciated...

Did he check the fuel pressure and Inj. Duty cycle? What size of Inj. are you running? Could be the tune too.

He didn't check that... I'm assuming he's not going to without extra funding if even then? The injectors are stock...

do you have the 3.33 pulley? itd be best to put it on and then tune it.

there are plenty of people who would want a 3.12 pulley.

I saw your part out thread and am just curious- is this why you are selling your kit?

+1, why would you run a 3.12 pulley with stock injectors?

The 3.33 pulley was on initially and still had the problem..

Dude you can't run a 3.12 pulley with stock injectors, at least I don't think. Get yourself some 440cc's and re-tune.

I ran the 3.12 pulley with stock injectors and had plenty of duty cycle left . It was at 9psi and 350whp on a Mustang dyno ....guessing at around 385whp Dynojet . You shouldnt be having a problem . I think Vortech went from a 8 to 1 FMU down to a 6 to 1 FMU . I dont know what year kit you have .

My guess is , since it was happening with the stock 3.33 pulley that there is something going on with that FMU . It could have been bad from the get go , it could have not been installed right , could be a few other thing related to getting enough fuel or fuel preasure into the system .

sounds like the aux pump is not coming on (or no vaccum reference to the FMU), or some setup issue inside the tune. More like the first issue.

Vortech, out of the box, runs on the rich side.

Thanks for the advice guys, the kit was from an 04 g35 sedan so it should be 8:1.... I called vortech and got the measurements so I can check it.... I'm gonna test the aux fuel pump tomorrow also... I would guess it's not a prob with the ss cuz split second is the one that attempted the tune today and i figure they'd detect a fault in their own box?

LOL, ...........measurements for the split second box, cmon man you know that.....we are gonna figure out square inches inside the box today......

Im assuming hes talking about pulley size measurements?

Ughh no I'm talking about the measurements of the washer inside the FMU to determine if it's 8:1 or 6:1...

Also, the tuner checked the aux fuel pump and verified that it's turning on at least....

The vacuum lines are also ran correctly...

Any other suggestions on what's causing the problem?

listen, the best advice you'll receive is...take it to Church's Automotive in Torrance and ask for Shawn Church. He'll fix your problem. He knows the R4 software real well. He tuned my G and did a great job. The AUX pump by default wasn't set to come on until 6000 rpm when he tuned mine...he fixed it.

/\ The key thing is he's out of funds so going to a shop is last option.
