Took the plunge..... I'm going FI!!!

So after doing a couple months of research I finally decided to go FI. I contemplated whether to stay NA, but I knew I wouldve been unhappy with the minimal gains of bolt ons (HFC, plenum spacer, intake exhaust) So I decided to go with a brand new TN kit. I also ordered a stage 2 comp clutch, since I was afraid of the stock going out on me soon. So here's what I ordered:

-Brand new single TN kit
-AAM oil pan spacer with AAM oil line kit
-AEM UEGO gauge and Autometer boost gauge
-Autometer dual gauge pod
-Comp Clutch stage 2 clutch kit

I'm having my clutch installed this Saturday, so I can give the clutch a lil time to break in. So I'll keep you guys posted on my FI experience :)

Congrats!! Have fun with that thing

Robert_K Feb 28, 2008 08:06 AM

Congrats!!! What made you go with the TN kit vs. other kits available?

ChrisCJ99 Feb 28, 2008 08:13 AM

Thanks! I plan on just staying rather conservative and just using the TN reflash :)

Well, price and word of mouth. I knew several people with TN kits and they had great experiences. AND I drove my friends 03 Z with the TN kit and TN flash and I LOVED it!!!! Its got more than enough power for me to enjoy :)

Cool. I think the TN ST is a good kit. I've just read a lot of thread where guys maxed out there ST and ended up selling the kit and going TT. But in the end if YOU are happy that is all that matters. :thumbup2: Best of luck and lets us know how you like the kit.

Make sure to get a turbo blanket $100 and heat wrap for the downpipe DEI makes a header kit, prolly a 2" by 50 foot roll and some hight temp silicone spray to seal it along with the ss bands to hold it for about $70. It is also recommended to lengthen the upper a/c line $100 at an a/c repair shop and wrap it with DEI firesleeve $50 so it is protected and easier to reroute away from the downpipe. Also put firesleeve on the lower a/c line. I have been considering the TN kit for awhile now but everything you have listed is very quality and the exact same I would buy if I were doing it. Good Luck! I'm jealous!!!!!

p.s. order a ss clutch line and have that put in with the new clutch, you can find them on ebay $25 shipped or from a vendor on here, make sure to put firesleeve on that too!

Yeah, the shop installing this is customizing an AC line and EXTRA heat wrapping everything. New SS clutch line, DOT brake fluid, the works :) here in Florida its a REQUIREMENT to extra heat wrap everything :) thanks though. I'll try to take pics of the install :)

I'm having S&R Performance install the kit and clutch. I know a few of the guys there through my car team (Team SSP) and I feel more comfortable having people I know work on it :) Not to say any of the other local shops are BAD, but you know what I mean :)

i wouldnt drive it just with the flash...get it tuned with a utec or some type of "real" ems....good luck with your kit...

Anytime you're ready to take on the "big dog" of Tampa PM me!

Seriously though, where does SSP meet?

I don't want to join or anything but I'd be down to hang out with some ST Z's from time to time.

Good luck with everything and when you want more power, come talk to me and Performance Factory!

Haha! Sounds good man. We don't necessarily have a designated meet up. The team occasionally does Sat night Sonic, or causeway. Come check us out on the website :) www.teamssp.com

Well, just had my Comp clutch stage 2 clutch put in today.... The shop said my flywheel and clutch were pretty shot :( LUCKILY, they had another 350Z flywheel laying around from another TN kit installed last week, and was in good condition. So they just slapped in on for me.... WHEW!!! The clutch is kinda chattering a lot. And it engages lower than my stock. But they said it was normal.... However I'm having a tought time getting into 5th gear! Is that normal?? Well, I have 500 miles to break in the new clutch, then the TN kit goes in next week :icon38:
