Since everyone has started highlighting their thread titles i figured i would do mine:icon38:

I don't know how many of you guys were at Zdayz, but if you were i am sure you guys saw a black 06 Z that was SMOKING ITS ASS OFF. If you did, then that was my car:icon38: . I immediatley knew that i had been pw3nd by my turbonetics turbos. Luckily i was w/ my Drunk for a friend (Jason333) who was a customer of Jeremy Tibbs @Performance Factory and was able to introduce me to him. After talking to JT for a while and getting him drunk on cheap whiskey i decided to let him take my car back w/ him to Orlando to see exactly what the deal was. So after inspecting the turbos jeremy dicovers they are leaking oil from both sides of the turbos. Initially i think this will be a cheap ordeal since they are covered under TN warranty, well boy was i wrong. Instead of going in to get a oil burning issue resolved, i am coming out w/ a whole new setup! Jeremy baited me (this could be a lie:)) with the idea of going w/ a built motor since he had a built motor just sitting there for his car before deciding to go another route. After contemplating it i decided to go for it since i would more than likely have to have the motor pulled anyways to fix the turbos and he made the price almost to good to pass up.

The new setup will consist of the following:

SFR TT KIT (TN t3/t4 60-1 turbos)
2.5" down pipes
Tial 38mm wastegates w/ dump tubes
HKS Knock off Exhaust (Ebay special baby!!)
JE Performance Factory Spec Pistons (8.8:1)
Pauter Rods
Arp 1/2" headstuds
HKS headgasket
JWT C8R cams
JWT valve springs
FCON VPRO
HKS EVC6
CJM Stage 1 fuel return
Dwerk 850cc injectors
walboro Fuel pump

I don't want to start projecting what kind of power this thing will make, but i am going to try and take it to the edge (20+psi) on race gas. I am looking for at least 600whp:icon38: . Finally i will be able to put these laggy ass turbos to use. Hopefully we will see in the next few weeks:)

Why the 2.5" downpipes?

because if you get 3" downpipes why would you mate it to a 2.5" exhaust. I would then have to get a new exhaust then where does the spending stop????:icon38:

Its like a gawd damn snowball effect. Eventually i'll upgrade it, but i want to see how far i can get on this exhaust.

BTW, are you swapping turbos or tossing that out of the window?

Well it is actually simple. Sharif's shop was packed at time and jeremy was able to squeeze me in. There are no hard feelings or anything. Unlike some people though, i do not feel as though you have to be MARRIED to a shop.

No i am going to give the turbos another go round. There was a oil line that was kinked in between the subframe that was more than likely the cause of this

Just an FYI, your knock-off HKS exhaust is not 2.5" but it is 2.36".

So you will be mating a 2.5" downpipe to a smaller 2.36" exhaust. Not a exactly a good idea from the way I see it.

I thought it was the other way around... Chris said the HKS is 2.36" and the knockoff is 2.5".

actually i am pretty sure it is 2.5" (at least it was when i measured it). The real hks is 2.36"

we will see what the exhaust will take, we have 520 on a stock exhaust with open dumps and test pipes, i dont think we will have a problem.

wont be too long chris, and of course, no hard feelings towards any shop with a good reputation.


AND NO, despite what anyone says, we are not going out of business and not moving!!! we have PLENTY of cars in here, PLENTY of work to do, we just dont have the time to post up as much as we used to....
