Well I figured out why my IDC's were so high (Vortech dyno)

I went down to see Sharif today to get my Vortech tune touched up since I've been dragging the car recently. Just wanted to make sure the #'s were spot on so that would be one less thing to worry about when going down the strip. I had been noticing pretty high injector duty cycles (IDC) even though having DW 600cc injectors as well a the stage 2 CJM return fuel system set at 46 psi base pressure.

Well after a few pulls on his DynoDynamics, Sharif figured out the problem. Not too shabby for a vortech kit.

So what was the problem? Nice numbers btw

Nexx May 4, 2009 04:02 PM

sick numbers from a vortech on Dyno Dynamics!!! wow!!!! more details on the setup please!

str8dum1 May 4, 2009 04:03 PM

i guess thats about the limit that 600cc plus a rfs setup can handle with a supercharger

Dynosty May 4, 2009 05:09 PM

Wow, great numbers from Vortech! What pulley are you using? Also, you may consider adding some fuel all the way to 6000rpm where the AFRs are 12+.

JonnyC May 4, 2009 06:20 PM

Haha, very nice! What boost level are you hitting?

Jeremy@Altered May 5, 2009 04:06 AM

Nice, you still on a stock block? If so, you might want to back it down a little. Thats some serious power on a stock block. :icon38:

So you drive a "Infinity G35" according to his Dyno program. ;)

rcdash May 5, 2009 04:16 AM

Amazing power. Congrats. It does say G35 in his sig - lol, not just the dyno program. Was that with METH?

Jeremy@Altered May 5, 2009 04:48 AM

I know exactly what car he drives. ;) Just making fun of the spelling on the DynoDynamics program on Sharifs computer.

str8dum1 May 5, 2009 06:09 AM

Hal - my timing isnt very aggressive and Sharif felt that the AFRs were spot on for superchargers that he tunes.

JT - Ya stock block. I felt pretty good til I backcaluclated the trq #'s :icon14: One of the tech's typed in Infinity. LOL

Raj - Ya that was with meth, but was not used to bump the timing. Sharif thought we coulda pushed it even more and he was even hesitant to lean it out on the top end. I really wanna get it on a dynojet now.

So what did he do to fix the IDC on your car if it was at the limit?

str8dum1 May 5, 2009 07:45 AM

they are about maxed for this power level at around 98% IDC with a base of ~46 psi, so close to 60 under full boost.

Sharif said they are fine for my current setup. I still was able to get a good AFR, but to go any bigger would need bigger injectors, etc etc.

now I really cant wait to see how MORE!! horsepower that 928M impeller will make. That thing should easily support 500 hp on a dynojet!

SmallTuner May 5, 2009 07:50 AM

he did nothing, just rise the FPR so that he can make it rich. then normally ull use les ms in the fuel map.

46 base pressure is low, should set it around 48-51psi base.

str8dum1 May 5, 2009 08:02 AM

the problem was alot more horsepower than expected :) nothing to do with fuel delivery. My fuel pressure doesnt dip at all. straight 1:1 rise all the way to redline.

no didnt touch my base pressure either. left it at 46. but i could raise it some to maybe
support some more hp, but no reason to have to redo the entire fuel map.

Either way, thats right at the edge for a stock block and way more crank hp than a turbo setup with similiar rwhp.

That's why I think the GTM pulley mod and all those tensioners are unnecessary if you are using the correct belts. Unrefuted proof that the stock pulley setup will not slip with close to 500 dynojet horsepower.

SmallTuner May 5, 2009 08:28 AM

any way :D the power is realy nasty

Mr_pharmD May 5, 2009 08:32 AM

What cog setup and pulleys are u currently running and how much boost do u see at redline?

str8dum1 May 5, 2009 09:36 AM

I forgot to add the best pic

my stock power (tuned for the 600cc injectors) vs my SC'r power.

Great numbers for the setup on that dyno, very strong.

How far into the 11's do you run?

str8dum1 May 5, 2009 09:42 AM

i fail even more at drag racing now bc i make a crappy 89.1 mph in the 1/8th mile with a street tire 1500 rpm launch. But I did just get my new clutch and will try again thursday night if the weather holds out.

There arent any 1/4 mile tracks that close, so I wanna wait to go there until i can chop consistent 2.0s (right now do 2.1s) and maybe wait for my drag radials to come in.

Jeremy@Altered May 5, 2009 10:58 AM

Whats your best time? You should be able to run 11.6ish at 120-122 in a stock weight G35 with that much power on decent tires.
