when i finished with the break in for the engine i did a very very conservative tune since the car is still going for a audio setup installation and paint shop. the tuner was very impressed with the results. but the only downside is the LAG.. its sooooo damn laggy.

will let the pics talk.

thats all for today,,, will update with more pics by tomorrow.

what do you guys think about the lag !!!

would the reason be the cams ?!!! i have got the EVC tuned properly and the tuner said it wont help...

the car goes into full boost on 4000 RMP :icon14: but when it hits 4000 RPM.. oh good.. its a whole different story.

i know its stage 2.. but didnt expect the lag to be that much...

thoughts. !?/

do you have a dyno with boost vs rpm or a log?

Looks good though.

Looking Good

Must have gotten the Stage 2 with the big AR

Stage 2 is almost the same as the APS TT kit but with a bigger AR

Forgive my ignorance, as I've not really delved too far into the VQ35 world as of yet (only had my Z a few months at this point), but what is that lovely item?

I'm guessing it's an oil pan of some sort, but it's completely unfamiliar to me. Am I on the right track?

str8dum1 Sep 23, 2010 05:40 PM

Its the now rare APS oil pan.

4000 is pretty good for twin 3071s with a 0.86 ar. I'd say most kits get spooled around 4000 rpms.

I make 200 hp at 5000 rpms. try that for lag :)

diablox1 Sep 23, 2010 05:48 PM

awesome. i like ur buddy's shirt.

thom000001 Sep 23, 2010 05:52 PM

Nobody can complain about lag like Rich lol.

For a log mani setup I'd still expect better spool. I was amazed how "laggy" the aps extreme kit was when compared to my twin 54mm (tube mani). I spooled considerably better.....even with the twin 60's now, I probably still spool better.

Get us some numbers to look at!!!

Tom

Looking good! Nice setup.

The STG 2 has the GT2861RS with AR .86.

Mine spools at 3500rpm, I got the same kit

i am comparing my car with the old setup.. i could feel the lag on the old setup.. but in this one it is way more...

if you are looking at the boost gauge, you will see it struggling to boost.its starts spooling from 2000+ RPM and once it hits 4000-4500 ( Full boost ) it spools like hell..

i even get wheel spin on 2nd and 3rd. but only above 5000rpm. :dunno:

Do you have cams ?!!

your engine is different. its an HR.

midz350 Sep 24, 2010 12:06 AM

It's still 3.5L.

I thought cam supposed to shift your power band to the left and help with spool up!! :dunno:

SargeZ350 Sep 24, 2010 12:06 AM

My Stage 2 Setup hits full boost at 3000rpm.

str8dum1 Sep 24, 2010 06:01 AM

Fixed, cant keep spoolin after you hit full boost :)

you can play with timing and AFR to help with spool. Are you sure your boost controller is optimized. I know the EVCs can be a little tricky to setup. YOu wanna verify its got enough duty cycle to keep the gate shut from 1000 rpms on up.

i thought the stage 2 was a gt30. gt28s are a good bit smaller. i doubt full boost at 3000 rpms unless you were making like under 10psi.

3500 is more realistic on a low compression motor

nah, anytime you increase duration on the cam, you more or less shift the powerband to the right. The stock cams give the most low end trq, but get outflowed past 6500 rpms. Most people will give up some low end for more power past 6500.
