03 z needing turbo kit what's the best route to go
I am wanting to put in a turbo into my 03 z it's just over 100k miles and I just got done replacing struts, suspension, brakes and basic things like that. My car already had a cold air intake and a turbo short shifter. What is the best way to go in purchasing a turbo I would need a inter cooler and BOV with it that's basicLly all I know. I just bought this z about a week ago and everything is great on it but I bought it with the intentions of putting in a turbo, I wrecked my 08 mazdaspeed3 and I miss my turbo. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! And yes I know I'm a noob. But hey you gotta start somewhere right?

I used a 5" diesel aftermarket dual exhaust from a 97 f350 with my turbo kit. With only one cut I was able to make it fit and it looks/sounds AMAZING. So forget getting an exhaust made for the 350z since they will never flow enough. . . especially with a turbo.
There is no "best route to go". Some serious advice would be to do research, research and research. Browse other peoples builds to get an idea of what you will need and what the cost will be. I have learned that the tune, engine management and correct supporting mods will help keep your Z on the street. A turbo in the Z has been done many times over... everything you need to know is here if you just use the search button and browse the builds and forced induction sections of the forum.
Heres the deal, If all you know is that you need an intercooler and BOV then just give up NOW ...If you want a to experience force induction then your going to have to take your car to a shop expect to pay upwards of $10,000 to have them install a single turbo kit on your car. Plan and simple ....

search, reseach and search some more…everything you have asked about has been covered…with the exception of the turbo shifter…dont search for that - you'll be disappointed.
don't do anything cheap - yes, you can buy a complete knock off kit for $2500 but it'll **** the bed. Because you are knowledgeless, buy a name brand quality kit and have a shop install it.
expect to pay $8-$10k for to have a basic turbo kit installed that will make 400whp. If you want more than you'll need a built block plus a handful of other supporting mods - you'll see 550whp, possibly 600whp but it will cost you $20k to $25k.

Not sure which platform you're talking about. I know a guy who had 150k on his 350z and he dropped a T1000 turbonator with a custom mimetic poly-alloy wheel that really outperformed his old T800 turbonator unit.
Granted... fluid performance was somewhat dependant on warm temps- given that the climate he frequently drove in during the winter time was colder than liquid nitrogen (he lives in Canada).
For the money you would put into boosting it, it would be way cheaper to just put a ls2 swap in. Could prolly have it said and done for no more than 3000$. +1 on our terrible seat brackets, can't tell you how many I've been through.
Some really good advice in this thread. I been thru more seat brackets than transmissions.
Buy a turbo off eBay. A huge 5" thick IC, and then have a guy at a muffler shop do your piping. They could easily do it ALL before lunch. Tip em a 30 pack and have em weld the BOV.
Good to go with 93 octane and low boost levels, don't be fooled into needing a fuel system.
