GoatOfRafin's Rotrex build

Hi all!

I recently had the chance to own a 350Z RevUp and now on to the process of collecting the proper parts for a Rotrex C38/91 build. I will be building a separate engine with the engine block and crank from bealljk (thanks, you are da man! :) ) and a built head from silencedeyes, with forged pistons of 9:1 compression. If my calculations are correct, I will be going for ~20psi and ~650bhp (crank hp). I have already installed an eManage Ultimate, bought from bcoffee20 (thanks mate, you are a very thorough and helpful guy) plus a VManage for tuning CVTC and eVTC. This combo has already provided me with gains from my cat removal, longtube headers and custom true dual (H-piped) 2.75" exhaust (~23bhp peak gain and ~30hp gain at mid RPMs) which will also be the exhaust of my supercharged build.

Until now I have managed to collect the following parts:

- Rotrex C38/91 with its peripheral devices (oil lines, oil cooler, etc)
- Frozenboost intercooler
- Deatchwerks 600cc I/J (bought from nathanwl2004)
- AEM 320lph fuel pump
- Larger baffled aluminum oil pan
- Brian Crower rods
- ARP main and head studs
- NGK one step colder spark plugs
- AAM upgraded MAF
- Cometic gaskets
- Exedy lightweight flywheel
- JWT clutch
- Plenum spacer
- Innovate DLG-2 dual lambda gauge
- SPA boost + oil temp dual gauge

Remaining items are a set of forged pistons of ~9:1 compression ratio and a complete fuel return system. Here are some photos of the stuff!

What oil pan is that?

goatofrafin Nov 5, 2015 01:40 PM

Got it from ebay.de (German eBay); I do not think that it has a specific brand. Here is the view from below...

Have you tried fitting it yet?

goatofrafin Nov 6, 2015 12:34 AM

No, I am planning to do that to the built motor...

jdm-v35 Nov 6, 2015 04:49 AM

How do you plan to mount that rotrex blower?

goatofrafin Nov 6, 2015 05:12 AM

I am considering to get the bracket from these guys...

http://www.auto-gruppen.se/webshop/s...7/image/38477/

They told me that they sell it (a bit pricey I might add) separately. If not, I have to custom make something...

jdm-v35 Nov 6, 2015 05:19 AM

never seen that company before.. How much do they want for just the bracket? and what is the max power potential of that blower on the Z? If it would not put out over 600 it probably would have been easier/cheaper to go vortec

goatofrafin Nov 6, 2015 05:52 AM

It's like $500 or something... I 've got the Rotrex for a very good price, hence the whole deal. Plus, the Vortech kit would be too expensive to get it here due to tax + shipping costs.

By the way, as I was writing at my first post, I am expecting something near 650bhp (crank hp).

jdm-v35 Nov 6, 2015 06:14 AM

Cool I look forward to seeing it done. 500 for the bracket is pretty cheap!

goatofrafin Nov 6, 2015 07:14 AM

I guess I am used to cheaper price ranges... :)

I've got that oil pan. It fits fine, but the bolts that come with it are complete crap. Buy better hardware. It's also worth filling it up with oil on the bench to make sure there are no porous parts of the casting (I've heard of this happening with these). If it seeps through anywhere, you can use the green loctite to seal it, just spread it on and it'll seep into the pores and cure.

It also makes fitting a sandwich plate for an oil cooler a bit more tricky, but it's doable.

Other than that, I have no complaints about that pan.

Very cool project. Nice to see a real Rotrex in the works :D

goatofrafin Nov 6, 2015 12:49 PM

Wow, thanks for the tips, really appreciated! :)

Sub-scribed!

excited for this build!

what clutch did you get from JWT? I only ask because depending on what you plan on making for torque numbers that may not be enough clutch... just some food for thought, good luck with the build.

Conway_160 Nov 10, 2015 04:14 AM

Its a supercharger torque wont be a problem, if hes very lucky he might hit 500ft/lbs

tonyzS/C03 Nov 10, 2015 03:24 PM

true, but why buy a clutch that would barely hold that instead of one that will for sure hold it... :twocents:

How's the build going? I have a lot of parts from my c38-92 build but not sure if many of it will fit with LTH. Let me know if you are interested.

just a heads up, thats a knock off version of the APS oil pan. I had the exact same one and threw it out because it leaked. Oil was seeping through it. Drove me nuts. Just keep an eye out for that, and also you may want to get the pickup extender as well that comes with the real pan.
