Double standard against G's?

Everyone and their mom puts Fairlady Badges on their Z, that's okay, but when you put a Skyline badge on a G, it's blasphemy? Am I missing something?

Quijano187 Jan 16, 2007 02:01 AM

lol good point

JDMFairladyZ33 Jan 16, 2007 02:05 AM

I never knew it was blasphemy. I think the problem people tend to have issues with is that the G35 coupe is sharing it's JDM name with an established car the Nissan Skyline. As for Fairlady, it's always been part of the Z line. Maybe I shouldn't put that Bluebird badge on my old Altima.

most people dont understand what skylines are and that skyline doesnt necessarily mean gt-r.

cturnbull802 Jan 16, 2007 10:26 PM

no badges for the win!

THE TECH Jan 17, 2007 07:37 AM

The G ain't no Skyline.

350zz053 Jan 17, 2007 07:39 AM

The G isnt a skyline. G35's in japan arent called skylines. 350z in japan are called fairladyZ or z33

edit::
/\ you beat me to it!!

maybe its not a double standard, but rather lack of knowledge

fastGkid Jan 17, 2007 08:06 AM

nothing wrong with it in my opinion. i have the badge on my G.

THE TECH Jan 17, 2007 08:07 AM

I still say it ain't no Skyline.

arma Jan 17, 2007 08:12 AM

its the same body and all so i can see why some people see it as ok.

either way i say rebadging it to something they call it in a diff country is stupid

you should look at some of the years past "skylines" only a handful of skylines get the GTR badge.

JDMFairladyZ33 Jan 17, 2007 08:21 AM

If you want to get technical, the Nissan burger would be considered a rebadge on a R32, 33, and 34 since the original maker was Prince not Nissan.

Is that cause you have a G therefore there is some bias or do you really believe that you own a Skyline? Not a flame, just wondering your response.

You don't get the point, In Japan it is a "Skyline". Just like in Japan an NSX is Honda and here in the states it's Acura. If you go to Japan and buy what we calll here a "G35" it would be a "Skyline". However, your thinking of the Skyline GTR. No, it's not a GTR but you can look at it at any way you want to but in Japan its a Skyline. Just like the 350z is a "Fairlady Z" in Japan.

honestly i wouldnt badge my car as a skyline which is why my g35c is completly debaged besides the front grill. its like 240sx owners saying/badging there car as a silvia s13/s14. basicly the same car but sold on forign soil.

THE TECH Jan 17, 2007 09:32 AM

I hear you.

91LSMAN Jan 17, 2007 05:14 PM

Not that I'm an expert, but video games and movies have made the R34 GTR the car everyone thinks of when they hear or see the name "Skyline" so when someone sees the Skyline badge on a G35 coupe, the uneducated person may feel that the G35 driver is a "poser." The Skyline name was on multipe cars in Japan: slow, fast, 2-door, 4-door, I don't even know how many there have been. The people that have negative feelings towards the skyline badge on a G35 coupe have no idea what they are talking about.

ahero4eternity Jan 18, 2007 05:58 AM

if youre gonna rebadge though...do it all...

steering wheel, clock, kickplates, floormats, trunk mat, seats, full exterior.
