Need help with HFC's.
Hey guys. I just installed my Crawford HFC's a couple weeks ago and I have been enjoying it ever since. But last week something weird happend. Whenever I put the car in reverse it makes a weird grinding noise on the passanger side. This only happens in reverse and when I hit the gas in reverse it sounds like sh*t .It sounds like a loose bracket or something... I dunno. I went to the dealer and they said it was my heat sheild rubbing against something. I got it fixed but now it only comes once in a while. Any ideas on what should I do? I was thinking of taking it back to them for another look. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I went from Helix Test Pipes(no noise) to Kinetix HFC's and I got the sound, I had to beat in my heat shield a bit with a mallet...now, no grinding noise :)

Ok but did u guys get the noise when you were in reverse or normal driving? I know the headers move when you put the car in reverse so maybe thats the problem?? And does the grinding damage anything in the engine?

Hello?

It sounds like you're just getting more engine movement in reverse than in forward gears, so you're probably just contacting the heat shields in reverse. Do like people are saying and pound in the heat shields a little more where they are contacting.

I had that occasionally, I installed a Stillen engine dampener and it stopped alot of the noise that beating the heat shield didn't take care of.
BTW, sorry I should've mentioned that I had the dampener to begin with :) |
