Motordyne's MREV Lower Plenum INSTALLED on 287 with Crawford v5
1 Attachment(s)
Well I decided to celebrate my birthday by finally getting around to putting my MREV lower manifold on. I've probably swapped out upper plenums 6-10 times by now so it was a breeze... only took two hours with many, many extended breaks. Here are the specs:
2003 Model, 41,000 miles Popcharger U/R Crank Pulley Crawford V5 Upper Plenum Kinetix Hiflo Cats JIC Y-pipe Fujitsubo 3" Stainless Exhaust I'm going to eat some pizza and watch TV while the gasket maker dries (I threw out the old gasket) but will report back in 30 minutes or so with butt dyno impressions. I hope I have good news. :) |
So same plenum as yours just machined some in the front 2 runners. IMO not worth the time or $$$ to do it at all.
|
Sorry to go off topic, do you have the inlet and outlet diameters of the JIC, and the where you got it / how much you paid... could you please PM me?
Thanks! Mike |
Butt dyno reports very minor loss in torque below 3krpm and moderate gains from 3krpm up... really jumps from ~6200-6600rpm now. I've attached a butt-dyno chart. ;)

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/4930/dyno1tq.jpg A loss of torque doesn't sound too good, are the gains up top worth it? Thanks. |
I hope you didn't use an A/F sniffer with that butt-dyno. :p

Yes there is some loss of torque, not too significant at all... and the gains up top ARE worth it. It certainly isn't the BEST N/A mod I've done but it is one of the last ones I can do before getting into the drivetrain...
|
Any clue what the improvement in actual HP with the crawford v5 vs stock?

I have never dyno'd but I can say I felt a noticeable increase in power with the Crawford plenum.

Ohhh man thats too explicit! |
this is the question i have been asking for awhile :)......now i got the answer wohoooooo :)....
|
Some real dynos would be nice. Isn't someone slated to do this soon?
|
are you sure those gains uptop arn't from your wallet-dyno, lmao
|
It could be that the loss in torque down low makes the power up high more noticiable now..
And you never said if it was the MREV+ or MREV++? All you said is "MREV" which is the exact same lower collector as your stock lower collector. |
I don't know what the hell the difference between the MREV+ and MREV++ and MREV2 is... and to be honest I think it is a poor marketing decision by Motordyne to make it so ambiguous.
What I have is a stock lower collector that has had the front two runners shaven down a little bit. In addition to this I sanded/polished the rest of it and took out as much volume from the runners themselves as my 60grit sandpaper + elbow grease could... |
