Default was cold air now short ram

Here is my Nismo CAI, I took the bending pipe out, and made it into a Short ram. Sounds louder and feels like it pulls better.

Should i change my filter? It doesnt have a filter on the bottom, its made for cold air and is made not to suck in water. Being that I have a short ram (for the rainy months) should I buy a filter that is with out that rubber peice on the bottom, or leave it alone?

do you honestly think that that piece on the bottom is what prevents water from being sucked in? /sigh

i think u should as the hole where the air is being rammed in isnt going straight into ur filter, but rather being sucked from around. i think ur not getting as much air as u could be.

I wouldn't sweat it. Save the money and run it as is. Leave the cai pipe off as its not worth the risk.

im well aware of that, you said in your post "It doesnt have a filter on the bottom, its made for cold air and is made not to suck in water." "should I buy a filter that is with out that rubber peice on the bottom" since you seem to think the diffrecne between a regular filter that would go on a ram and the cai filter is just that piece on the bottm, that meens you think thats what prevents the water from getting sucked in, when it and the filter, really have nothing to do with it

Looks like a pop charger without a heat shield.

that "piece" is made to draw the air through in the case that your filter is submerged . it's not a water filter. duh

it's not going to make a difference it you have a filter on front or not . if your engine is pulling more of a vaccum through the filter that the air blowing on it it's not ram air. the only positve having the filter on the front would be more filter surface area and maybe the cooler air getting to the filter 1/1000 of a second faster. get a heat shield if your getting rid of your cai
