Flowmaster isn't flaming.. sounds great

I wanted a flowmaster on my Z. Some say this is "flaming", while everyone that has already done it says they love the sound.

Before the Z, I've only driven a Camaro Z28 and Camaro SS.. so I'm used to American muscle and the way it sounds.. The Flowmaster on the Z sounds great and much, much better then V6 Camaro's that I heard. I let the muffler shop take care of it, the muffler didn't match up very well because the old one was so big.. so they had to twist the pipes a funny way to make it fit.

After it was all said in done the guy offered to cut off the resonator but I declined. The total was $450 installed (including muffler), and if I want to resonator cut off he'll do it for free within the next few weeks. I feel like he may have got me a bit on the price but the piping looks excellent.. I don't mind paying the price for quality work.

All in all I think it was a good investment, considering the other exhaust systems that people recommend for $1000 before the install!

How does it sound?
It sounds GREAT. It sounds much deeper then a Camaro V6 and the tone is beautiful. It's not raspy.. and doesn't sound like a ricer.

The question now is should I get the resonator cut off or leave it on? I'll have a video of the sound up soon, I think you all will be surprised.

sounds sick

I also have there flowmaster and the resonator has also been removed.
It sounds raspy when the engine is cold but when it warms up it sounds deep, exotic love the sound really loud. I'm gonna put the resonator back on to make the raspy sound go away when its the engine is cold. I hope it is still loud and deep.

whole thing cost me less that $200 new with install.

If you like it fine with me. Photos would be interesting.

I would say it had a sort of "bathroom echo" sound to it rather than a deep chest vibrating rumble

guys I will have video asap.. it was raining here today so I couldn't get any. But it sounds amazing :gotowned:

How the hell did you get that price... $200 with install?? The flowmaster retail price is like 149 or 200..

With the resonator on it sounds great and not raspy at all... do you have any clips of what it sounds like with it off?

A ricer is a honda civic (or similar) with a fart can. Or a nissan 350z with a fart can. :icon22:

Of course the 350z is a japanese car... but with the right setup it doesn't sound loud and high pitched -- which is very annoying. The bathroom echo was a good comparison haha

From the back side only without hearing it... Congrats, you have a ricer. I bet it sounds like a world of farts.

EDIT: I would not consider a performance Borla single pipe a ricer.. if that's what's on your car.

I would love to hear the flowmaster on the Z, but i also like the single exhaust set up and the dual Injen setup like i have.
