Advice on CAI's
I searched around to find any thread on this but I couldn't find one. If I am wrong, someone please lock this and give me the link to the thread.
Well anyway, simply put, do not get a cold air intake. Useless and robs power. I installed one months ago and when I went for a test run, I coulda swore I lost power and definitely felt it but refused to believe it. Just tonight I went to short ram and now the power that I used to have is back. The CAI also messed with my idle severely and now that I went back to short ram, it is back to normal. I'm speaking from personal experience so it isn't just my opinion. I'm just writing this up for anyone who is confused about getting a CAI, and to save them making the slightly costly mistake of getting a CAI thinking it will give them power.... I learned the hard way and I would just stay away from them. I hope I placed this thread in the right section, but if not, please, mods, move it =) I was reading through the forums and there seems to be a lot of people inquiring about CAI's and I just thought maybe I could provide a little insight for those unknowingly jumping into a bad thing. Have a good one y'all! -Mike |

To add a little more to what you said.... 2006 airbox with drop in > Short Ram with OEM intake tube> Short Ram with Metal intake tube > Long Tube CAI So basically a short ram is better then a CAI. But still isn't the best setup, especially durring the summer months. But for those that are willing to sacrafice a little for looks and sound, it's the best bet! |
i've heard guys gaining like 8-10 hp from the new injen cai for the hr
i dont know if this is true though. |
drop in k&n's is all you need...
