Rule #0: No flaming.

If you notice that someone is breaking any of the following rules, don't flame them. Just simply click the "Report bad post" button (once) which is located at the bottom left of each post.

1. Do not ask:
"What is the best ______ "
a. Headers
b. Exhaust
c. Test pipes
d. High flow cats
e. Plenum or spacer
f. CAI / Popcharger / Intake
g. y-pipe
h. Similar items to (a) - (g)

This type of question gets very old and repetetive, not to mention boring and it is a waste of space and bandwidth on the server, which violates the Terms of Use (TOU). There is never going to be a "BEST" so you had better do your own research and decide for yourself, just like everyone else who bought their own intake/exhaust/headers.

List of several people's opinions on the best EVERYTHING can be found in this thread
https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exhaust/273703-finally-answered-what-is-the-best-__________-intake-exhaust-headers-etc.html

2. Do not ask:
"Which ________ sounds the best?" or
"Which ________ gives the deepest growl?"
"Which ________ sounds the most like ________ ?"
"What does ________ sound like?"
or similar questions.

Please be honest with yourself. You would never buy an exhaust just based on how someone on the INTERNET tells you it sounds. So please don't ask. If you want to hear how an exhaust sounds, you have a couple of options. You can go to a local MEET where people have different exhaust setups, or you can try to find SOUND CLIPS online. They are out there, but you must search for them.

3. Do not ask:
"Which ________ gives the most horsepower?"

Asking this question will get you a lot of bullsh1t responses and people who don't know what they're talking about. There's only ONE source for finding out how much power a bolt-on gives you: a before and after dyno. Search for dynos and if they're out there, you'll find them. Here's a couple of good examples of threads with BEFORE AND AFTER DYNOS:

https://my350z.com/forum/intake-exhaust/188419-mrev-v2-independent-dyno-tested-on-bone-stock-287hp-motor-wired-24-7-s-05-touring.html
https://my350z.com/forum/engine-and-drivetrain/224832-e-manage-ultimate-tuned-pics-and-dynos-inside.html

Rule 3-a)
DO NOT MAKE FALSE CLAIMS ABOUT HOW MUCH HORSEPOWER A BOLT-ON MAKES, OR YOUR POST WILL BE DELETED. SUBSEQUENT FALSE INFORMATION WILL RESULT IN BANISHMENT.

4. Do not ask:
"Where is the best place to buy _________", or
"What is the cheapest price for _________"

There is a reason we have a Marketplace section, including both private classifieds and vendor classifieds. You must do your own research about price before buying. Usually if you PM the appropriate vendor, they will give you a price quote. If you are certain that none of the vendors are selling the item you wish to buy, you may post a thread asking where to find it.

5. If you have a CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL) / (SES), you must get the code scanned before you ask your question.

It is useless for you, and a waste of time for us, if you ask about a check engine light for which you do not know the code. People are more than willing to help, but without that code, everyone who posts in your thread will be speculating based on nothing. (Autozone does it for free. Pep boys = ~$20. You can do it yourself if you have a Cipher tool from AAM. A Nissan/Infiniti dealer can do it as well.)

6. Make your question as SPECIFIC as possible.
Do not post any vague questions that do nothing but clutter the forum with random responses.

If your question is: "what do you guys think of __________ headers/exhaust/CAI?" or something similar, your post will be locked.

The reason for this rule is simple: if your question is that vague, you clearly have not searched or done any independent research. Start by browsing through old threads in the Intake/Exhaust forum. Another good way to search is to use the "Titles Only" option on the search function.

7. Do not ask:
Will ____________ void my warranty?

For warranty information, check the Top 100 Questions Thread. In a nutshell, if a modification to your vehicle causes a problem or malfunction, that problem will not be covered under warranty. If you install an exhaust and your radio stops working, if you still have warranty then your radio is covered. The dealership can NEVER actively "VOID YOUR WARRANTY" but they may try to scare you.

8. Include some **relevant** information in your thread title. Use specific keywords in thread titles.

Thread titles such as "Question" or "Help" or "Nismo" do not give readers any clue what your thread is about. If you do not take the time to create a proper thread, with a proper title, with a specific question, I have to assume you are not posting a serious question. Therefore, your post will be locked.

A better title would be "Question about Flex pipes" or "Help with installing headers" or "Nismo exhaust cracking"

9. Check the Top 100 Questions Thread before posting your question.
Link: https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-nissan-350z/197329-the-top-100-common-questions.html

Simple enough. Several people including myself have taken hours of our time to create this thread that is chock-full of information. If you ask a question that is covered in this thread, your thread will be locked.

10. NO UNNECESSARY NECROMANCY
Necromancy = revival of threads that have "died" ... i.e. no one has posted in the thread for quite some time. PAY ATTENTION TO POST DATES!

Do not revive dead threads unless you have something new or important to add to the discussion. If you bump an old post for no good reason, it is seen as unnecessary post whoring and it clutters the main page of the forum with threads that no one (except you) seems to care about.

Posting threads asking any such questions (including, but not limited to those posted above) will be locked or deleted without question. Re-hashing or revisiting the subject after the thread is locked is against TOU and will result in banishment.

These rules are NOT here because the moderators are assh0les. The purpose of these rules are to make it easier for people who are seriously interested in intake or exhaust parts to locate meaningful threads, and so that people with serious questions will have a better chance at getting their questions answered.

Final Rule:
If your thread is locked or deleted, do not take it personally. Simply educate yourself about the rules, and try again. No hard feelings.

Thank you,
My350z.com staff

The following are some examples of what is OK to post:

1. Pictures / Videos / Sound clips
2. Dynos
3. Your review or opinion of an intake or exhaust part
4. Specific problems you may be having
5. A *specific* question about intake or exhaust parts, for example:

"Could adding a popcharger cause damage to the MAF sensor if I'm not careful?"

"Has anyone had their Injen SES exhaust crack?"

"When you purchased the HKS exhaust, did it come with gaskets?"

And so on.

There are many "good" questions/threads that you might post, please do not feel limited to posting the examples listed above.
