Please help! Problem with hfc's

Let's me start by saying thanks in advance. So recently I purchased some aam competition high flow cats for my 2005. My uncle is a mechanic and said he should be able to install them with no problem. So he puts the car on the lift and sees the bolts are a little rusted and says that he can't do it because the bolts could snap. So he recommends me to this local shop that does welding and they want $500 just to weld the cats on. This sounds absolutely ridiculous. What should I do? I live in the south jersey area if that helps at all. I feel like 500 is way to much just to weld the cats on. Please help.

They are completely incompetent. The cats are bolt on. Why do they want to weld them on? Um lets see. Because they think youll be a sucker and let them. Find a new shop bro. Dont be that guy.

Go with your gut. If one of the studs snap just air hammer it out and replace with a bolt and done. If one of the bolts snap, well just replace it.

I'm getting my OEM cats put back on my 07 z (I have Art test pipes on there right now) and pretty much all the studs fell/broke off on my originals. It's the same on one I got from a member here. Something tells me it's a common occurrence.

The studs from Nissan is $2.8 I believe and the nut is around that price so lets say $6 for the pair. I needed 2 pairs for each side.

Should be an easy fix. Don't forget the gaskets.

I also got a quote for a weld for a hairline fracture on my unattached cat. It was $45.

My gut was right $500 is way too expensive.
