VIN's over 100k
 

I believe Z's with a VIN in the 100k range, meaning the six digit serial number starts with 1, do not have side air bags. From what I have seen Z's with side air bags, their serial number starts with 0. I've seen serial numbers as high as 8000 for both, meaning Nissan has produced around 16,000 Z's so far. Using a bit more logic one would conclude Nissan does not plan on making more then 200,000 Z's in the life of the car or their nice little numbering scheme would be thrown off. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
