What a shame
This is the most beautiful car I have ever seen. To bad the beauty is only skin deep. I had a girlfriend like this and it taught me one thing, go for the substance within. So I am sad to say that after reading all the complaints you guys have with this car I will have to buy a costly vette that has grow boring on the outside but dependable within. Good luck Guys!
test drove a '03 z06. Clunky hood that was a biotch to close, black glue (on a yellow car) sticking out between body panels & near windows.
Looked good from far
Looked far from good
Overall, I am sure the Vette will have less little annoying problems than a Z, but guess what I drive??
Also, there are plenty of common Vette problems that have never been addressed in like 5-6 yrs of the C5!!! Oil burning, leaky differentials, etc.
The Vette is a great car for a great price. As long as you have the money, get the Vette & Good Luck!!

You don't own a Z. Your opinion appears to have been based entirely on second-hand experience, and you chose only to see the 'bad' though many of us have been expounding on the positives. You made a choice - I bet you enjoy the vette - good luck with it. Don't be so sure that you will find the experience problem-free though. Sorry, but IMO this post was stupid and obviously sour grapes - if you don't own or haven't owned this car then you know nothing about its substance.
You should have entitled your post, THIS PAGE INTENTIONALLY LEFT BLANK.

of course this forum is going to be mostly about problems people have with there Z's. every vehicle has problems....no vehicle is perfect. japanese workmanship has very high standards and this car is no exception. vetts are old news, been around for like 40 or 50 years. its nice to own a car that is the first of its type. this car has future written all over it, not "classic" like a vette does. vetts dont turn heads anymore.

elrdc, you've misinterpreted the posts in this forum. There is nothing "wrong" with MY Z or the Z in general. There are thousands of members posting on this forum and those who have problems tend to post the most. And many are perfectionists to boot. I suggest you go to any other sports car forum (the Corvette for example) and you will find the same number of complaints about a wide variety of minor problems and sometimes defects.
Wow! What a hostile group I was not trying to put the car down. I just could not understand how so much thought could be place on the exterior design yet so many problems listed about the car in general. It scared me away from the purchase but your loyality to the product has once away excited my interest. Now can someone that has owned the C-5 tell me honestly which ride is better?
Thanx Intrepid you were the kindest to someone confused

well all the talk of tire feathering and replaced manual trannies sure lowered the Z in my opinion. That said, one EVO VIII article I read (in Sport Compact Car I think) mentioned grinding 1-2 shifts in the EVO so I'm waiting for more feedback. But I wouldn't get any first year production cars either.
Hey guys, I bought a Touring Z six weeks ago and then found this forum. If I had read about; feathering tires, bad manual trans, bad paint, cement truck like ride, greasy windows ETC......,
it is unlikely that I would have purchased my Z!
I have yet to have any of the above issues, accept the harsh ride, but, I am worried about the future with this car. So, how would we expect someone to react to the many defects often reported on this forum.
But, I don't understand why anyone would feel the need to come on this forum and tell us he/she has decided to buy something else. Maybe just looking for a fight?

Dude:
I love my Z and will never sell it. I plan to be buried in it when I die. I enjoy looking at the vette but nothin' beats the Z in this price range. You should consider investing a little time looking at some of the vette sites before you implement your plan.

After reading all this info here about the Z, I am debating about getting it at all now. Same concept here maybe second year production will be better.
And if the 1st year production is not "fixed" then expect resale values to go into the toliet... I mean who wants a production year with tranny problems, alignment / suspension problems, paint issues, etc...
Would I love to get the car? Hell yeah, I am only $250 bucks from getting one right now... Do I want to deal with alot of things I have read here? No... And I'm having second thoughts BIGTIME!
Nissan are you listening?????

elrdc, on a forum, you are bound to hear more from the people with problems than those without.
Dude:
Get serrious!! Does your mom know that you are using the computer.
If you are sweatin' $250.00 just to get the Z then you should reconsider and go buy a yugo or something.
I have absolutely no complaints about my Z. I've had it since November.
Check out some of the other forums and you will read posts from many happy Z owners.
As in life you can choose to focus on the negative, however, it is much more rewarding to seek out the positive.
