Windows roll down by themselves??

I have a 2005 enthusiast model, which I've had four about 4 years, that I'm now starting to have an issue with. Over the last couple of weeks my windows will intermitantly go down by themselves when I turn my car off. I'm not pressing any of the buttons on my FOB or anything, they just go down. I searched the tech forum to see if anyone else might of had this problem, but I didn't have any success. Has enyone else had this problem?

If you put the key in the lock, turn it to the right and hold. The windows go up. (Left goes down) Or maybe that's only on the newer ones?

As for the window thing that's weird, probably wiring or something of that nature. Take the car to the dealer i guess?

Same thing happens to me, I think it is a pretty common problem. Iam paranoid that one of these days the window is going to go down without me realizing and it is going to rain outside. I have to get this fixed soon.

your car needs to be punished, unplug the battery for a few days

Thats exactly what happens with mine! I was in Corpus Christy the other week and my wife and I spent a few hours walking along Shorline St. and when we went back to the Z my windows were all the way down. Thank good nothing was missing.

NTB04-089 Window Regulator Motor Reset Procedure

revvenue 07-04-2010 02:36 PM

You need to clean or replace the window motors if resetting them does not fix this problem. There are threads in the DIY board.

...or just replace the brushes. there's a thread for that too. :)

That's not the one I was thinking of.

This is.

https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance...-be-fixed.html

As you can see by that thread, one can retain the original motor and just replace the brushes, for exponentially less money than replacing the whole motor.

Same problem?? Same solution??

Okay so I had kinda the same problem, but I would like to get help to be sure what the solution is before I get into the heart of my window motor.

So I would turn off my car, then walk away from it then it ranges from 5 seconds to like an hour. In that time frame my driver door unlocks and both of my windows roll all the way down. This has been happening for more than a week. So I would have to check on my car periodically. I have tried different ways locking it rather than the key fob, such as the sticking the key in the door and I have noticed that the windows stay up longer when I do that. But I have gotten to the point where when I go to work, I just straight up disconnect the battery from the car.
I did try taking off the door panel and doing the whole procedure of resetting the window motor with the little button. I did it on both windows motors individually, and that didn’t work.
So any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

I had the same problem you describe. My fix was replacing the battery in the FOB. I have a 2003 model I have owned for 16 years. No surprise the FOB battery was dying. When the battery begins "dying," it sends "bad" signals to the car.
