Lifetime warranty ftw!

It may be a defective reel, which is much more dangerous than just being annoying. Or, the belt might just be twisted inside the panel - check that first, but don't drive around like that.

It has a lifetime warranty. Take it to Nissan. They will replace it FREE.

If the VIN was sold in the US Nissan might send you the part.

Toyota did when the belt in my Land Cruiser broke and was in Mexico. Can't hurt to ask.

I would not take it apart, if they won't replace it for you I suggest buying a new one.

Pull up the rear end of the plastic trim panel which runs along the door sill. Then pull off the large panel covering the seatbelt reel area. It has maybe 6 clips, and will release with a firm tug starting at the front edge. No tools required.
