Driver's seat won't retract
 

So I'm the new owner of an 07 Nissan 350z GT and I bought the car knowing the car seat wouldn't retract. I took the car seat out today to see what the issue is/was but couldn't identify it. I did notice that only one side of the seat would move forward and backward, while the other side didn't. The previous owner showed me a plastic gear that was removed to keep the seat in one place.

My question is are there any DIY videos on how to fix this and what do I have to replace (other than the gear to fix this. Thanks in advance.

put the plastic gear back :dunno:

Wish I could, but I don't know where it goes and it's shredded (don't ask me how). A seat diagram breakdown would help greatly.

thanks for the link. it doesn't show the motor assembly. what i may do is take it to the dealer and let them tell me what's wrong with it and just fix it myself. i'd rather avoid the visit though.

Mines been kind of doing the same thing, it will slide back and tilt back anytime first try, but visa versa i need to keep hitting the button and it will eventually work..after like 60 clicks..

the seat motor is shot.

Yeah, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, wait thirty minutes (disables the airbag), disconnect the Molex connectors under the seat, take the seat off, take the old motor out, put the new one in, re-install the seat, re-attach the Molex connectors, tighten nuts to proper torque specs, re-connect the battery, have a beer.

does anyone know if buying a used seat motor would come with this gear? it's really irritating to know that i can't move the seat.
