Reverse Lights Won't Work
Hey guys. I hope you all are doing well and could help me out. I have 2006 350z Enthusiast MT coupe and just recently my reverse lights quit working. I tried replacing the bulbs but that didn't work. Before I head to Nissan and they charge the crap out of me for a simple fix I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction of fixing the problem myself.

Did you check the fuses? There's a panel near the dead pedal. There are also fuses next to the battery lid.
|
Which fuse should I be looking for in both locations?

actually, i'm having the same problem as OP, I changed reverse bulbs and nothing, i dont have voltage either, did checked the 3 fuse boxes our cars have, and i havent found the correct fuse because it doesnt says clearly rev or something, just checked the mos common, but all are good. So what to do next? Here are my 3 fuse covers, if you know which one it is, indicate it to me. Thanks

Turn the car on (not started), put it in reverse (if you have an autocraptic set the parking brake), then use a test light and touch the little piece of metal sticking out of the top of each fuse on both sides. If you find one that lights the test light on one side and not the other you found your blown fuse.
If every fuse is good, the bulbs are good and you're still not getting power look for the reverse switch off the transmission. Is it getting power to it? When you put the car in reverse does it put power out? If it's not getting power then there is something wrong between the switch and the fuse box. If it's not putting out power then the switch is probably bad. If it's putting out power then there is something wrong between the switch and the lights. |

Thank you for your reply, i tried the continuity test for the fuses, all worked, bulbs are new, and measured the voltage where the bulbs go and nothing, where's the tranny switch? |

http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_...0010_large.jpg You can see the blue connector on it below the second bolt from the rear on that black plate on top. |
Unhook the connector from it, check it for power. If you're getting power to it, use a paperclip or something to jump across both terminals and that should turn your lights on.

really helpful, will do and post results later, thank you!

ok so i did tried to jump the cables on the connector without succeding, aparently, the problem aint the switch, does somebody hs the wiring diagram or more info for the circuit? Do our cars use a relay? I was trying this page but the fuses aint in the same order, nor i dont have that relay since mine's M/T. Do we have a fuse specifically for the backup lamps or not? If so which one it is?

There is probably a relay. I honestly don't know.
I'll look around and see if I can dig up a diagram. Then when I leave work I'll listen for a relay click when I put it in reverse. (I back into my spot but I'll put it in reverse just for you.) |

Im having the same problem. Both of my reverse lights have been out. Replaced the bulbs, nothing. Replaced the reverse lamp switch on top of tranny. Still nothing. Checked fuses. All good. There is no power going to the reverse lights, only to the turn signals. Any ideas?

Alright soooo I fixed mine. Check the A/T Cont fuse to the left side of the battery underneath the plastic panels.

Had the same problem on my 05 350Z... Turns out that the fuse is on the left side of the battery...there is a fuse box under a weird cover that you can only access after removing ALL the plastic covers "actually two covers" on the battery side. Once you have all the plastic out of the way then you can take a pick or small screwdriver and pull the clips back on either side of the fuse cover. The cover pulls straight up...stupidest design I've ever seen. Once you have the cover off and you're facing the fuses from the front of the car it will be the row on left about 4 or 5 fuses down from the top (10 amp)Get something to pull them out with and just start pulling them till you came to the burnt one. I don't remember the exact fuse. I have owned this car for 3 weeks and I have NEVER come across such a piss pore design in my 61 Yrs of owning cars. OH WELL, I guess that's the price I pay for not buying the Z4.
