03 Fully Blacked Headlights, I can't stop modding...

Well, this weekend I decided that it was time to get rid of the Amber reflector strips and amber bulbs and replace them with the RickS2k smoked reflector I bought and new clear lens bulbs. Once I had them apart, I couldn't resist painting the interior black...and against all the warnings, I painted the whole thing black. I was thinking about it...and I really NEVER use my high beams. Ok, maybe sometimes, but rarely.

As it turns out, it's a good thing that I don't use them often, as my high beams now do hardly anything more than the stock HIDs do...but it looks so good to go full black that it was worth it IMO.

Let me know what you all think...I'm loving the fully blacked out look. It is bringing the whole theme of the car together. I'm starting to wish I'd have gone with Titanium gunmetal rims so that I could paint my door handles black and have the theme completed...Maybe I'll look for someone to trade rims with...who knows...

I know she's dirty...I finished the job late last night...and haven't had time to wash and wax her yet...

It was a real PITA i thought...about had me saying it'd be worth just sending it to Mr. Zipps and having him do it. If you are stubborn like me though, and want to try it yourself...here's the guide:

I just did what they said...took a couple days including paint curing times.

Thanks for all the comments guys!

When I did my head lights I found it so simple. If you have a few screw drivers, a oven, paint, and most important Patience any one can do this.

grrrrr.... is there a write up on how to do this.

yeah, it wasn't HARD by any means...just time consuming. The idea of water getting in is still a little un-nerving. I'm hoping I got them sealed back up properly. Don't feel like having to redo that whole process...

Patience is definitely key when doing this one...

you need to update your avatar to show your mods...right now it looks like you took the picture in a jungle next to some high brush

Wow...you're the man for painting over the chrome reflectors (HID and High-Beams). I couldn't talk myself into doing that hahah

Greedy4nismo Apr 30, 2007 11:45 AM

oh, give the report on how dimished your lights are...if at all

stevev58 Apr 30, 2007 11:46 AM

Looks good, I would love to do that but I use the high's too much.

Regular HIDs do not seem to be affected by the blacking out. High beams...well, they don't do much of anything anymore. Which I'm ok with...since I never really NEEDED them anyways. I guess, to me, the looks justify the loss...kinda like many forum members feel about their rear wiper being shaved clean, or the shorty antennas losing reception but looks better...etc....
