sofa's Z

I've been on this forum for 10 years. 2 Z's later, here's a few snaps.

My new 2006 Enthusiast when i lived in Alaska. Bronze Gram Lights & Greddy Single exhaust.

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1518/...c67273c1_b.jpgDSC00616 by sofa king, on Flickr

When we moved to Arizona we took it on a road trip from Seattle to Tucson. 2 seater road tripping' was amazing!

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1624/...22a5a36b_b.jpgDSC03178 by sofa king, on Flickr

Many cars & states later i bought an S14. It was the first time i got serious with the parts i put on it. Deep down i wasn't satisfied with it, really not sure why.

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5836/...9658df40_h.jpg_DSC9607 by sofa king, on Flickr

The opportunity came up to trade the S14 for a Z and I was all about it! I knew I sold my previous Z before i truly wanted to. Like with the S, I knew I wanted to do the Z right.

Day 1. Not too sure the direction I wanted to go, I was in more of a 'Track' mindset. Opposite of the S14. :)

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/347/1...eaef8236_h.jpgIMG_6100 by sofa king, on Flickr

In the upcoming weeks i did some paint correction. Its Interlagos Fire, it has to be looking its best! :icon17:

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1584/...bd89ffa8_b.jpgIMG_6438 by sofa king, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1442/...df99bcbd_b.jpgIMG_6441 by sofa king, on Flickr

While not 100% corrected, I was happy with the way it now looked. The color change was a lot more noticeable.

Stuck the Bride seats in the Z.

After a long internal debate between Garage Mak & Nismo v3, i started to collect v3 parts.

Scored some v3 sides off a member here. #385

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3775/...b9bb9471_b.jpgIMG_7741 by sofa king, on Flickr

Z1 hooked it up with a v3 Front Bumper.

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/536/2...12a12d81_b.jpgIMG_7998 by sofa king, on Flickr

Collecting more parts. Rep v3 wing & Rep Top Secret Diffuser. The wing was the first rep part i'd bought in a long while so i was worried about the fitment, shockingly it fit amazing with no adjustments.

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5645/...29bb6dbe_b.jpgIMG_8204 by sofa king, on Flickr

All the Aero parts would sit unpainted for about 5 months. Living in a small town i was worried about the availability of finding a body shop to do good work. So i just put it off & bought a few other small parts.

Evo-R CF interior bits to cover the pathetic OEM plastics.

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5737/...9630597a_b.jpgIMG_8468 by sofa king, on Flickr

Shine Carbon vortex generators & MCR Canards.

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5812/...f5d04c67_b.jpgIMG_8915 by sofa king, on Flickr

It was starting to become a reality, i was excited for spring time. Then a few days before Christmas while my car was parked this happened.

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1649/...24891164_b.jpgIMG_8870 by sofa king, on Flickr

I was even parked on the end. She hit it & kept pulling in. LUCKILY she stuck around, called the cops on herself and i was informed. I was upset but it takes a certain type of person to call the cops on yourself.

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5725/...c42d7f43_b.jpgIMG_8869 by sofa king, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1693/...ee59e5cb_b.jpgIMG_8873 by sofa king, on Flickr

This was the perfect time to paint everything that had been sitting in the garage for months. Like i mentioned earlier i was hesitant about the outcome of the work & paint match.

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1496/...0a51d07a_b.jpgIMG_9415 by sofa king, on Flickr

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1648/...2eb8b61f_b.jpgIMG_9421 by sofa king, on Flickr

Needless to say, they did an incredible job!

https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1579/...88285c99_b.jpgIMG_9638 by sofa king, on Flickr

1 Day after i get the car back from the body shop, i receive my MCR hood. It was ordered in August through a group buy. Just my luck! :D

Fits pretty damn good & its a unique piece.

Lookin good!

abarclay 02-21-2016 03:57 PM

Z's looking great man! What's next in the books after getting the hood painted?

I always liked your S14. I see a few driving around here, but none of them anywhere as clean as yours was.

Edit: saw you're not too sure what to do next :icon17:

AroundMyHorn 02-21-2016 04:57 PM

Needs more MW2 but looking good man.

Thanks dude. Visually, I love the S14 but driving it left much to be desired. Maybe it was just older & worn out but I was definitely more excited to show it rather than drive it.

Woot Woot! Looking good! I gotta ask, for your hood.. it looks like it sits flush on both sides of the headlights, did you adjust the hood latch at all? I noticed on mine, it sits a little high on one side.

stogey420time 02-23-2016 07:15 AM

Welcome back to the forum br0... even though, it ain't the same forum of what it used to be.

I've always admired your S14, even back on Zilvia

Clean build, expected nothing less.

This may be a first, but i bought an OEM radio off eBay to put back in. :icon17: I didn't like the way the aftermarket one looked & come to find out only about half the speakers were even wired up.

I think as i get older i worry more about the small things. :icon14:

I bought plastic clips to replace the missing ones under the hood & fender area. I've replaced the door handle w/ a working one & i've also replaced the passenger side window weather stripping because there was too much wind noise at speed.

sofakiing 02-27-2016 09:57 AM

restored the faded headlights with Chemical Guys Scratch & Swirl Remover.

Very well done thread sofakiing! You did a great job showing your cars over a timeline. You have put together a fine group of mods including all of the JDM items on your newest Z! All of that work makes your car a real stand out from the rest.

* I'm glad that you got the mcr hood, I'd imagine that you are going to love that piece alone; you will get a lot of compliments. The seats look great also! :icon38:

Took a 3+ hr trip down to El Paso last weekend for Spring Fest 2016. Scenery on the way down was incredible, once i was out of the flat part of New Mexico.

I thought id get there a little early (20 min) but i was maybe car 100 in line. holy ****! When in reality i was 4 hours early to when the show actually started. I think the line ended up being near a mile long.
