Opinion's on 20's for 350z

Guys,
After posting that thread about the black Enkei and Motegi wheels and going with an 18" wheel I am now debating about getting a 20" wheel. I would like to know everyone's thoughts on 20" wheels instead of 19". Everyone has 19" wheels, namely Volks, and I just want to be a little different and go with a 20". I know some guys out there have a set of the Axis Milano's in 20's and it looks pretty awesome. I like this wheel in particular that just came out from Axis, The Matrix.

Rim Info:
20x9 et25 front
20x10.5 et35 rear

Any thoughts on if this wheel, Hyper Black color, would look good on a Le Mans Sunset 350z.

So far I have seen a packaged deal from www.wheelstudio.com, an authorized wheel dealer off the Axis website (currently the only online wheel distributor authorized by Axis Wheels) and was wondering if anyone knew if there was a better deal out there. Currently there is a sticky in the Brakes, Wheel, and Suspension Area for a deal with Discount Tire Direct and just talked to Chris and he said that mounted and balanced with tires shipped to my door is $2350. So the question is, do you guys think it is a good deal? Please give me your opinion on the matter, it would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

Chris,

go back to the thread by Discount Tire Direct, check the post by WND, he sell his set for $2200. You can bargain with him. About 1000 miles on it.

That new Axis look great. 4 1/2" lip in the back. Go for it.

20's = not on a Z please, although Driven1 will say yes:icon39: Unless you have a crazy body kit on your Z 20's on stock body would look odd. And I dont personally like thise wheels, Milano's I just heard are discontinued, but they are simple and would work if I had to go with 20's....

not really. They look good. Aggressive. However, drop them so they will flush in.

Yeah, Of course I disagree. :icon39: LOL I love my 20's! However I think this just comes down to the wheel not the size. Certain wheels look bad on certain cars no matter what size they are. There are alot of 19's I like and even 18's. But there's nothing like my 20's. :icon38:

Alberto, you don't like 20's on a Z. We did this just for you. LOL We put these on Doug's GS last week. 22"s!!!!!!!!!!:icon39:

rough ride, too, with the decreased sidewall. heavier rim so slight negative to performance

pros and cons to everything....

Cons:
your not going to gain ANY performance from a 20
your going to need to drop it, unless you like fender gap ;)
your probibly going to need to roll all four fenders after you drop it.
be prepared to catch a little 'flak' from other people for putting that big of a wheel on your Z.

Pros:
It looks hot.
chicks dig shinney round things.
bling.

+1 - I never understood these posts....like some guy is gonna take some peoples opinions in regards to looks(performance parts I understand) but beauty is in the eye of the beholder-well not in the case of 20's though:icon39: :icon43:

Bubble Mar 16, 2006 08:44 PM

speaking of performance, a guy from Oregan with his ZR TT APS will slap on bodykit and 20" wheel. Now, that hot. ;)

Too big too heavy, pot holes will suck (common man, u live in the NOVA region, it's pot hole heaven here!) and by the looks of that, you'll need to run a 30 series profile which will suck even more on ride quality. 19's look just as nice, there's probably a reason why everone gets them, hahaha. But as far as looks, it looks great! But think about it, would you really want to sacrifice ride quality on a DAILY DRIVER, in NOVA, runnin a 30 series profile.. 24/7.. for LOOKS?!!? No, that doens't make much sense to me =)

Oh yeah, and when you replace your tires, expect to pay an extra $100 per tire! No Thank u! =D

Thanks for the thoughts guys and actually I do take your opinions into consideration. I guess 19's are the way to go instead of 20's. Any thougt on the 19" wheels. I like the Luff M1 and the Ruff Racing 279 does anyone know of wheels like this.

Lets see....I didn't lose much performance, Im not dropped and it sits perfectly, Only rolled the rear fenders (and thats b/c of the new 20's) Haven't heard too many people talk bad about mine.:) I think thats a good argument, on asking why everyone thinks 20's are so bad?

I ran 30 series tires (only in the rear) for 55,000 miles, to and from Florida. Never had one flat or any bent wheels.

Driven1 Mar 17, 2006 04:46 AM

Don't be scurrrrrrrrred! lol J/K Like everyone said, its your car, do what YOU want. I have had 20's for 3 years now and not one problem. I'll admit you do have to be careful. But as far as knocking 20's for all these different reasons, most just aren't true. But then again. If you get some gaudy chrome one piece wheel its gonna be heavy and of course you're gonna lose performance, but that goes for any size not just 20's.
